Oil in only one intake hole?

Hi everyone,

I noticed there was oil in only one intake hole when I removed the bottom intake manifold. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Also what's the best way to detach the exhaust for cylinder head removal?

Aftermarket Pcv valves depending on brand cause this from time to time but that doesn't look back enough to raise a fuss.. On to the exhaust bolts or manifold bolts the best way that I've found to get them removed is heat them up and spray them down with penetrating oil. As the metal of the nut expands from heat the penetrating oil suddenly cools the nut sucking in tons of penetrating oil providing enough lubrication for them to be broken loose. I use a 3/8 impact with a swivelling socket to gain good access. Afterwards I replace the studs with new one's and place Anti Seize on the threads and coat the manifolds with a good protective coating

Thanks for the reply. I am in the process of replacing the head gaskets so I'd like to take the chance to fix the little things along the way.

Should I bother with an aftermarket PCV valve again or should I just go straight to Toyota?

Personally the toyota part is so cheap and last so long I would def go the toyota route.

About the exhaust manifold. What I meant was what's the best(easiest) place to disconnect it? At the cylinder head itself or the flange right after that?

Fuel from the fuel injectors is what normally keeps that area clean. Fuel inhibits the buildup that we all see in the upper intakes of modern vehicles. Carb.'d and throttle body injected engines don't get the buildup in the intake like ones with separate injectors do, or at least not near as much. That being said, the build up doesn't really affect engine performance normally, since it's just in a large pathway for air.

But because you have buildup in that port and only that port, you may have an injector with a poor spray pattern that is partially clogged. If it were mine and I were going through that much work on the engine, I would get them cleaned.
