Oil Leak w/ Pic.

90 Toyota 4runner 22RE 5 speed w/ 4WD.
Since my last oil change I've used about 5 quarts to top this off. I really didn't think anything of it until a few days ago that it might be leaking. Anyways, pic is of where it's leaking. Can someone identify this for me? Thanks for your assistance!

I'm not sure still what exactly that part in the pic is. My repair manual doesn't have it marked or anything for me to identify it.

I would think your clutch would be slipping if it was really coming out of there. My guess is the same as the previous poster.....that it is coming out of the back of the valve cover and is just pooling at this spot.

It it the clutch fork boot. Mine totally desinigrated from an oil leak and so I went to the dealer to get another boot. They said no fluid is that chamber it's just the fork. The boot keeps durt,oil, etc. off of the and fork clutch gears? so even though your leak is not from the folk it needs to be replaced. I think it was like 6 bucks. Let me know where you find your leak. I haven't gotten that far and am not sure what route I will take once I do.
 
I agree it's probably the rear of the valve cover gasket ,the half moon.very easy to fix on the 22re and cheap also about 14 bucks from autoparts store.let us know if you need any more help.
 
I couldn't find any other source. It looks like it's only coming from the clutch fork area under the boot that's there. My clutch isn't slipping though I do have a hard time putting the truck in reverse once in a while.
 
If it's coming OUT of that boot then the oil is coming from inside the transmission bell housing. I'm 99% sure that's your rear main seal
 
Also check below the valve cove in the rear .There are two hardlines that go into the back of the head .I've seen those leak also but not as common as the valve cover.I'd eliminate all possiblities before I pulled the trans.It's not that bad just akward and heavy.

Most older manual transmissions have that issue, between two 1st gens and three transmissions I've had all of them where the gears don't line up... Let out the clutch, then back in and you're usually good.

As for the leak:. Take off your boot and look for oil underneath. If you're leaking from inside it, things are pretty not good.

Dingman is right just let the clutch out a little and it should go in gear.1st gear and reverse gear don't utilize synchronizers that's why.Let us know when you find the cause of the leak.
