Oil Leak?

Hey All,

I just changed the oil in my 2018 T4R about 2000km ago. It was last done at the dealership when I bought it a few months used. I used 0W20 Mobil 1, and factory filters. No issues during the change. I did my previous 2013 T4R for years with no issue.

Just returned from a lengthy week long trip, to find a couple drips of oil on my garage floor. Oil level looks good, but the front of the engine is a mess. I took the plastic cowl off and skid plate tonight to have a look. I appears to be coming from mid engine, passenger side, but there is so much oil everywhere it is hard to tell. Attached are two pictures, one from underneath and one from above. I also have a third one, with a drip coming off, adjacent to the what I believe the power steering pump.

Coolant levels and Power Steering fluids look good. Doesn't appear to be coming from the Filter housing. Vehicle is approx. 18 months old, with 47 000 km. Should be covered from warranty. Just trying to get an idea at what I am looking at here. Any light you can shed, would be great. Thanks!

IMO, zero chance. Something is obviously leaking but I think it was merely a coincidence that it happened right after your last oil change.

The factory oil is made for toyota by exxon/mobil. I cannot imagine the refinery would have such incompatible product lines that leaks could result.

I called Monday and had an appt. for today. Most of the oil was in the vicinity of the power steering pump. They removed the pump to find a bolt behind there covered in oil. They removed and replaced lower oil line gasket.

The technician did a nice job of cleaning up the oil in the engine bay. Was told to watch for the next week or two to confirm there is no new oil appearing and to contact them right away if so. First time I've had either of my T4Rs into the dealership for work. Happy with the services they provided today.

what exactly was leaking from where and why?

Appeared to be coming from lower oil line fitting, located behind the power steering pump. They removed and replaced the gasket. They figured bad gasket or wasn't properly seated on original assembly. Put it all back together and cleaned it up... no visible leak currently, but a tough spot to view. Time will tell.

I had a similar leak on my 2016, mine was the front crank seal.

Back to shop again on Friday for Safety Inspection and before I went, I checked for oil leaks. With this whole Covid-19 mess I've only put 2500kms on since the work in March. Front end puking oil again... spotted two little drops on the driveway as a heads up.

Same experienced tech got the vehicle again... front crank seal and oil pressure switches have been ordered (they had no stock) for replacement later next week.
