Oil leak.

I have an oil leak coming from around the steering rack and i don't know what it is, anybody have any ideas? It looks like it might be coming from the oil pan but there's not a huge amount coming out. I'll try and get some pictures up when i get home.

Bump! Ok well i looked into this a little more today and it looks like the oil is coming from the back of the engine, from the driveshaft seal between the tranny and the motor. I'm assuming it's something i need to take to the shop and let them do. Has anybody else had this problem or experience with this kind of thing? I need help.

Sorry I have never really dealt with this part of my car before. I believe there is the seal retainer and the crankshaft rear seal back there. That is the only part I have looked at on mine. There are probably many other things, I just know those are at the back of the engine.

It is the rear main seal. You are correct that it's where the crank is though. Taking it to a shop or not is up to you as only you know your mechanical ability. Mine is leaking too and I plan to drop the trans myself and swap it out. The seal is probably $5 or less and I'm not paying $200+ in labor for something I feel I can do myself. I have quite a bit of mechanical stuff myself though and feel comfortable. If you don't and you have the cash then by all means take it to a shop.
