Oil Press Guage Readings... Accurate?

Hello everyone....


SInce having my oil changed from 10-30 to 5-30, i've noticed my oil pressure was a bit low.

When i start her up, she's mid range between normal and high, but after driving a while, my pressure seems to stay around the bottom end of normal, right on the line. it's only when i give her a big shot of gass the pressure goes up to between normal and halfway.

In 4th gear, on the highway going about 70mph, with my foot still on the gass just a bit, she's just barly inside the normal range.

Do you guys' just think this is guage error????/ or would the oil i switched to have somthing to do with it?? OR the pick up, or the oil pump itself......???

My timing chain guides are busted off too, probly floating around in the oil pan.... the chain is gettin changed on the weekend.

The gauges are just reference points, they're not calibrated.

The thicker oil could cause the change in readings.

Get that TC changed before it wears thru the TC cover, or you'll really have problems.

Oh the chain is being changed 3 days from now.... she's rattling pretty good.

so the guage is not calabrated?? clear that up for me will ya??? lol....

What i mean is don't rely on exactly what the gauge says, it's relative. If it says 160 it maybe 140, but just use it for trends, if it's high one day and lower the next, there maybe a problem.

I drive a 95 4runner that has the same problem. It seems to be a normal condition. Everyone I talked to said the pressure runs on the low side. I did replace the sending unit early on, it didn't change a thing.

Ya for sure..... pressure should increase when you step on it.... but my issue is when i'm on the highway, doing about 65mph, it's ride on the min boarder line.....
