Oil Pressure Gauge ?

Greetings from a newbie member.

I recently picked up a 95 3.0 5-speed that has a K&N cold air intake system on it. My question is regarding that when I start the truck up in the morning the oil pressure gauge will jump near the upper limits (H), however once I start going over 5mph it will drop down and stay past the lower limits (L). The oil level is fine and has the cap on it and was changed not too long ago. What would most likely be causing this? I want to be careful that the oil isn't just sitting and not cycling around.

If it not sounding like a diesel truck then your fine. It could be three things. Oil pressure sender, short in wires, your gauge itself

Thanks for the info. I was going to chalk it up as a quirk of 19 year old truck, but ignoring a potential issue is a no no.
