oil pressure sending unit 85 runner

It's underneath the oil filter and has a single wire coming out of it. If you have idiot lights (gauge panel with only speedometer) then you have a pressure switch. If you have the SR5 gauge panel with tachometer and oil pressure gauge then you have a sending unit. They are less than $30 at the local dealer.

You can change it with a small wrench.

I suppose you have to drain the oil to do this job?

No. One or two drops max. I know personally as I changed to an SR5 gauge and had to replace the switch with a sender. Of course you should only try this with a cold engine.

I got my new Autometer oil pressure guage today. I gotta hook it up this weekend and see what my pressure is. Hopefully it's not my pump but it was a bad sending unit.

Oh wait I can't do it this weekend because I'm still waiting for my magnetic oil plug. I don't want to have to swap it out once I'm full with fresh oil.
