Ok another tire recommendation question

I am running 265/70/16 Nitto Grapplers on my 99 4x4 right now and they are at the wear indicator. I want to get something not so aggressive in tread to save fuel on the freeway. I was thinking of just going back to the original factory tires. My spare shows a Dunlop AT21, but some came with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T. Once a week I have to drive this back dirt road with rad switchbacks through Pala indian reservation here in san diego to get to my moms house. So I need some bite.
10% offroad 90% freeway.
What would you guys suggest?

I personally haven't had any mild tires in years... but I have heard great things about Michelin LTX.

Anyway, I guess the main reason I am posting in this thread is because I'd like to ask you for a photo of the back of your truck.

I am interested in doing a Jaos style spoiler and I want to see how it looks with Imperial Jade and LED tail lights.

First of all, all nitto truck/suv tires have the word "grappler" in them. So saying "Nitto grappler" does not tell us anything. I assume you meant the Terra grappler. Now on to your question..

I hear nothing but good things about the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2. Although they tend to run a bit pricey.

There is also the Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S, which are great all terrains as well.

And the good old BFG all terrains, as always.

I have no experience with any of these, just telling you what I hear.

Sorry man... yes Terra. Thanks for the info. Had the BFG’s before and the hwy ride was harsh compared to the Nittos. I like the looks of the Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S.
 
Michellin LTX- they were on my Runner when I got it 3 years ago. Great highway ride and did ok on mild off-road. Duellers also nice but both those are upper price range. I have heard really good things about the Falken Wild Peaks and they are really affordable. Unfortunately they only came out in April so no long term reviews from anyone, just the reviews from the magazines etc. Dunlop Grandtrek AT21 is what I ran on my Tacoma for a while and they were also nice onroad with ok performance for light wheeling.
 
Have the Revo 2s. The only merit they deserve is that they are great in the rain and snow.

Biggest drawback IMO is that they collect every small rock on the road. Every single one. And the sidewalls are softer than a baby's bottom.

LTX gets my vote.
 
I have been running the Yokohama AT/S for a couple of years now. They are wearing great, ride great, have great traction (rain, snow on road and offroad, dirt, slickrock) balance great and are durable (I have dragged the sidewalls on some sharp rocks without issues). I would not buy them for thick mud (I don't wheel mud but doubt that they would work well in mud).

The only thing I wish they had is a butcher LOOKING sidewall.

Function over form.
 
Someone on YT has these and likes them: Kumho Road Venture MT KL71. They look good too. How well they function is best left for others to comment on.
