...balls deep in Daisy, thats her name, when i realized that my runner needs some love. i've owned this vehicle since '05 and havent done much to it at all, in fact nothing other than oil change. i noticed a shimmy when i would brake, so naturally i assumed my rotors. so i pulled her in the garage, put her up on stands and began; it was supposed to be a quick rotor swap and tie rod end change. the tires came off very easy, i decided to start on drivers side. once the rotor came off i noticed that my rotors are in great shape. my dad then begins to tell me that that shimmy i felt could also be my ball joints..... bummer. so after further inspection i end with a list of **** i gotta buy. the biggy being new CV axles, but i already knew that. the inner boots on both my axles have been missing for a couple yrs. so paying 60$ ea and replacing them is a must. so after hours of inspection i came to know Daisy a lil better and im gonna get her back in shape. my list consists of.....
1. New CV axles. (already purchased and in work.)
2. New tie rod ends. (already purchased and in work.)
3. New ball joints, upper and lower, both sides.
4. New swaybar links, front and back.
5. New struts in front and shocks in rear. my cousin recommened Bilstein 5100 shocks in rear and equivelant for front struts. Daisy has aftermarket coils springs on rear and a 1'' lift/leveling kit on front.
now im curious.... i did a lil research on those bilsteins. the 5100 series was recommened for my Daisy having 0"-2.5" lift... that got me thinking of getting a 2.5" lift kit and just doing everything new since i already am giving her "new legs, magic legs" (forrest gump reference haha lol). another question... If i got a new lift kit and went from whatever im at, about 1", to 2.5" woud that **** up my new CV axles??? would i need special ones for a lift (hope not)
and since she's out of commission right now, i'm gonna tune her up too...
6. New plugs and wires and cap.
7. New battery... cuz mine sux donkey stones.
and i am also gonna and a cold air intake and exhaust... basically im giving her a tit job, lypo, the whole 9. she gonna pull out the garage a new ride.
In conclusion.... anyone with any input on a few tricks to make my future tasks easier, i would much appreciate it. AND any recommendations of any particular brand of parts, (swaybar links, ball joints, struts and shocks) and where to buy (online, checker...) i would forever be in your debt. and as payback... ill give ya ride in Daisy next time she goes out!! maybe a ride on the maiden voyage to Moab!!!
