its a 1st generation supercharger like mine. It uses the same blower that the 2nd generation kit uses, except it if molded into the manifold. So, if you wear out the 2nd generation blower beyond rebuild, you have to buy w whole new kit. At least you can unbolt the 1st gen charger, and replace just the blower unit itself. BTW it is an Eaton M62 blower just like on the Ford Lightning trucks, and many of the GM supercharged motors, like the Grand Prix GTP. here is a pic of mine installed.

did any one on here get it? That one would need the new dynamic tensioner, and bracket, but that is less than $100

just out of curiosity, what is the most attractive part of the TRD supercharger for you guys?
Basically after another thread was brought up regarding turbocharging, i grabbed my spare CT26 turbo (7MGTE Supra), and was toying w/ the idea of putting together a simple kit for the 4runner. again for those that don't know my i work in a performance shop designing turbo kits for cars, so getting something together and produced wouldn't be hard for me to do. I was thinking of the CT26 mainly for the price point, and of course for us in CA it says toyota on it, so hopefully we could sneak it by the CHP if we had to! There are lots of other options available as well, so lets hear some thoughts on this.

Well what am thinking is that i would offer it in stages. for example
Stage one would be a non intercooled kit that would be on the same level performance wise as the TRD SC.
Stage two would add an intercooler, and more boost, and would probably necessitate a fuel upgrade to go w/ it. depends how much room the factory ECU has to play w/.
Price for the stage one would be pretty cheap. i would like to be in the realm of that ebay auction for someone to have a running kit. then move up from there. I most likely would make the end consumer source there own turbo. If i go w/ the CT26 as the turbo choice, i don't have the time to go hunt for a used one, and a new one is going to be expensive. If we go w/ a T series or GT series aftermarket, then i wouldn't only want to offer the best products available, which would be more than some would want to spend. So that would give the end user the option of buying the $100 ebay special and risking things, or spending the money for the name brand part. I'll look at it a bit more tomorrow, and do some rough dollar guesses.

its super simple to fabricate something with the 4 cylinder vehicles. But for the V6, you have to make 2 exhaust manifolds, and a crossover tube to join the 2 together. you are looking at least $1200 for that. not to mention making a downpipe to connect the turbo to the rest of the exhaust. I dont really think the CT-26 is a large enough turbo to make much of a difference. you gotta remember, that turbo came on the 7m supra motors. those motors were only 3 liters. a T04E would probably work, but then you would have the extra expense of an external wastgate The boost of a turbo is a lot hotter than what the supercharger puts out. you will definitely want to run an intercooler on that. Then you have all of the oil lines that you have to plumb. I really dont think you are going to make a more cost effective alternative to the current supercharger. Besides STS makes a turbo setup for our vehicles. In order to make it worth it, it would have to be less than the current supercharger, and it would have to make more power than it. Here is the current turbo offerings. since this is non intercooled, its only boosting 4 psi. anything over that, and you have to upgrade your fuel/timing. and run an intercooler.
