Oklahoma Trail Runs 2014?

in the area...

i travel a lot for work and i happen to be down in Shawnee, OK .... i was gonna go and try out "Sundog Trails" .... unless there is somewhere closer.... Anyone wanna join ? i also looked up "Big Red Off Road Park".... ? thoughts?

There has been some talk about some OKC members playing on the river in Purcell to Norman on the 18th. Nothing official just wanted to see if there is any interest.

You guys still planning on doing this? I'll be around and should be able to get away for a few hours to run the river. Morning would be great for me.

AlexB I am going to have to pass on this trip, I was on vaca last week and need the weekend to get caught up. It's fun with great river access and only 10.00, go have some fun and I'll catch it next time around.

Anyone have any knowledge if there is any trails/dirt roads worth driving around the Lawton/Wichita Mountains area? I know the reserve is off limits to OHV but I didn't know about anywhere else down there. Thoughts?

I've always wondered the same thing. Not exactly the same area, but anyone tried Arbuckle Offroad Park?

I have heard it's a heavy rock crawling area by word of mouth but I've not put eyes on it myself.

Yes! Actually, from what I can tell, Camp Gruber ORV Park and Cherokee WMA are within a short drive of each other but not the same. We went to Gruber and I have yet to check out Cherokee. I'm actually wanting to go back and hit both on the same day. BUT I would not have found Gruber without your info. So, I owe you a beer or too when you move back to OK. My iPhone will only let me post one pic. I'll post more when I get home.

Anyway......I found this channel on youtube. This guy seems to be in the area and has some awesome vids of local/semi local trails..... It looks like this one is in the Ouchita NF. He's also done the K-trail. I'm thinking about contacting him for some help on routes.

Where is the video located? I live near the ouchita but never been in this area.

Wow...old post you quoted there. We found out it was the K-Trail in the video; which happens to be in the Ouachita National Forest. We ran it last spring and had a blast.

Been thinking about a "X-MAS" run before the year is out.

Anyone been down "BLACK-HORSE TRAIL" or "BLACK FORK TRAIL"? Viewing from above, both seem to connect with the famous "K-trail" that is mentioned on this thread.

We over @ EXPO plan to do it around 19th-23rd of December, calendar wise.

Edited to add: since it'll be cold, how about southward? I'd be up for a TX Hill Country trip. I know some scenic paved and unpaved routes.

As of right now, it has been through PM, to not allow too much excitement. We will post something ASAP in "central states" on EXPO. We have gathered past maps via Garmin Express, and others.

We are more than open to hill country options. Let me know what you have in mind and we can work out the details. We would like to keep the future run to 4WD ONLY.

Side note: December 28th-3rd we will be doing a Big Bend Trip with FJ Cruiser guys. You can see that our schedule is pretty tight and "adjustment dates" are high on the priority list.

Well dang...the BB trip is also quite tempting.

I will probably do either the OK or BB trip, but not both.

I'll start working on the Hill Country route. That one may be good for a weekend coinciding with a Monday holiday weekend, e.g. Presidents Day in Feb.

What are these trails you speak of? Never heard of them! More info, please?

Okc Metro Off Road Park - NE10th east of I-35, besides being riddled with Jeeps it's an ok place for 10.00 and in the metro. Some trails and man made obstacles on about 150 acres.

Hey! Welcome to t4r and Tulsa! In an effort to preserve our marriages, our group has taken the last couple months off I'll post it up next time we plan a trail run. If you want to go check out some local stuff solo, PM me and I'll give you some places to go.

Guys I live close to Amarillo and have been driving back and forth to OK on my fishing trips. I tend to stick to county roads while out there and love it. If you guys plan any sort of trail riding please let me know. I'm out on the off road park stuff as we have those here as well and just not to fond of them, but would love to join you guys for a day of cruising some dirt roads..
