Old AGP 4x video

I rebuilt my neighbor's EMachine with XP Pro. Thought I would give it a boost with a video card. Have 2 old AGP 4x cards. Installed TNT2 32 MB, but the NVidia drivers would not load to the this motherboard. ?? the other card is a Diamond Savage 4, maybe only 8 MB. He does email and some Photo shop on a CRT. I do not know Diamond, or should I keep looking for other NVidia drivers to try? (AMD 1.5 Gb, 1.25 GB MB, XP Pro) thanks guys

Tried both and I can't find any new drivers for them. The S3 Savage4 I left in place. I think it is 16 MB afterall. fun times !
 
Sorry you couldn't find any help on this. EMachines have a rep as being a "*****" to work on. I tried working on a couple for friends in the past and just gave up as it was not worth the trouble to try upgrading anything.
 
Well it was rebuilt with a 60 GB HD and 500 wt PS a while back, so I had more to work with. Just reload windows and the 16 MB card helps the 'shared MB'. oh, also 1.25 GB MB was not bad for this. If it was the original small PS, I would not have bothered with it. It has some sort of 'optimum setting' in BIOS. might be a quicker death.

I found Legacy drivers on CNET. But they do not have set up, install or any type of folder for that. I opened a file to 43 sub folders and none right click to a install. Maybe I would have better luck with the TNT card. life.
 
well, that .exe will not open, I can guess why. Tried to use the S3 Graphics Savage4 (16MB?). Think I will try to load the TNT2 32MB instead. I was gong to give this machine back, but he got a MAC instead. so, maybe a little back up machine unless I donate it. Either AGP card is fine now. I went to NDivia and d/l there file, it will not open on this old motherboard. ?? ideas?
 
maybe a bios update will solve the problem, u have to go to nvidia and click legacy and see if the tnt drivers are there.
 
mabuhay. I did start with chipset drivers, then 'legacy' at NVidia, but those said 'no load to this motherboard'. I did state XP Pro. I am starting to think it is a Jaton card, even though it is not stated any where. should that matter? Device Manager just shows 'TNT card. ran
 
maybe you really need to upgrade the bios. An update may even increase the shared video memory.

My 4.0 V6 only hit 22 MPG this run on 5 & 680, 101. Southern Oregon to a good lunch on Fisherman's Wharf, Monterey. short family visit. I posted a question on the forum about the card and stuff. Getting caught up right now, back home.
 
Finally found a link to Jaton AGPtech site. They have been sending me different NVidia drivers, but all do the same thing, will not load to hardware. strange.
 
I cant really help, sorry. BUT... I remember buying a Diamond TNT2 Ultra when it first came out ($300+) !! oh the memories.... action quake, og counterstrike
 
wait..wait.. Lol! Is the TNT 32 a 1999 video card? The drivers might not run in XP, maybe Windows Me/98. I doubt it will run in NT environment. Ha! ha!

denverunner, pls don't let me install back my counter-strike :lmao: because I still have my cheat list! ....sv_gravity
 
I managed to find another driver for it, and it loaded to XP Pro. This project is finished, may donate or something next. Does not look like the motherboard will go much faster. thanks all.
 
I found an old Radeon ATI 7000 32MG card and it works, updates fine. Tossed in a Sony DVD and it plays basic DVD OK. Nothing high energy. Still just taking up space in my office.
