Old man emu rear springs and cbi rear bumper?

Going to pull the trigger and get a CBI rear bumper and currently have old man emu 895e springs. I know I need to change springs but the question is can I go with 895 tall springs instead of the short ones or do I need to go with 896?

If you are going to be carrying a lot of weight, I would do something custom. Thats what a lot of guys have done (including myself) and other than price, I have yet to see downsides.

I ordered my CSS springs through Deaver using the below specs. A few other guys carrying a fair amount of weight used the same. This is a for a 4runner with 4x4 Labs rear bumper, rear drawer loaded with tools, fridge in the rear, 3 jerry cars etc... When I bought I believe they were around $385.

➢ Load 1,050 lbs
➢ Load Height 13 ½
➢ Rate 240/300 lbs variable
➢ Free Height = 18”"
Diameter: .671
7.625 total coils
Variable rate spring 240lbs / 300lbs

I have the heavy OME rear springs on my truck. I don't like them as they are still too wimpy for putting any weight in the rear and the drivers side sags with them installed, meaning you have to install a spacer on the driver side to make the truck level...which just causes the spring to wear out over time and lean to the drivers side AGAIN! They are going away and I am either going to get some custom springs or the metaltech versions which have a heavier spring gauge for the driver side to stop the sagging.

I don't have enough experience with them to give feedback, but I just put in the Icon springs (ICON 4Runner Overland Series 3" Lift Rear Coil Springs) to try and compensate for all the extra weight. If that doesn't work then I'll have to go with the custom route.

I originally had the Superflex springs but when I got my bumper I switched to the Icon Overland Springs. They have been great.

I've been through a few different rear springs since I got my rear bumper/swingout. Went from Icon 2" springs to Toytec Superflex HD and now running OME 897's. It depends on how much weight you have in the back other than the rear bumper. I have drawers, fridge, etc so I went with the super stiff 897's and they are a nice match with all that weight. If you dont carry all that weight, I'm sure the 896 or Superflex HD or Icon Overland springs are all going to work well for you.
