Old timing belt condition

I just replaced the timing belt and all rollers, tensioner, etc on a 2004 4Runner Sport edition V8 that I bought last week. The PO had no record of the belt ever being changed. The truck has 239K miles on it. The belt looked pretty bad. Take a look :

Defintely due for being replaced, good thing you changed it out, I hope the PO at least did regular maintenence on all the rest of the truck, if so you should get well over 300,000 miles out of her now and I hope you get many many more than that!!!

If that timing belt has never been changed it did a great job of lasting for 239,000 miles and would be a testament to the OEM belt, was there any other POs other than the one you bought it from?

No, there weren't any other owners. It looked like the belt was original. There were no marks on it at all. Any belt I have done previously didn't have any marks. Of course, the letters and arrows may have faded away from heat and age. Although this belt looked pretty worn, it looked like it would last another 100K. You never know, that's why I changed it. Better safe than sorry.
