OME 2887 and 90010 Installed

2014, Limited. I searched on here and couldn't find much on these coils and shock combo. From what i have found, OME tends to get some poor reviews in the world of a harsh ride. I am coming from toytec Boss 600lb setup. This was done prior to bumper and winch, and the driver side had been replaced and the passenger side was now covered in oil. So, I lost confidence in them. I am more of an offroad/overland user and don't need max flex. Reliability is a priority.

After pouring over threads and researching, I decided to get this setup vs one costing 3 times more with Ext Resi. As you see i live in KS, pretty flat. I do get to the MTN's 2-3 times a year for offroad and mtn passes though. The 2887 are OME's HD springs, and everything I did read recommended their shocks to match, so that is what i did. In comparison to the toytec boss. The shaft is visibly larger, and so is the shaft the eyelet is attached to. They are solid. I installed using the no compressor method which I have done now about 4 times over the years with my 4r's. Great write ups on this forum of that.

Ride Impressions-Opinion- As many have stated, this is so subjective. I don't run the front sway bar (if your keen eye caught that in the pic) for personal preference. These ride solid. They are not floaty at all, but they feel valved correct for the weight i have. On rough roads, they stay planted and don't walk (my old ones did). I am running about 250lbs up front for reference. Running these with less weight, i imagine they would be really firm, if not downright harsh. Again, personal preference.

Measurements-Center wheel to fender is 22.5.
Droop increased by .75 of an inch over Boss.
I did run a 1/4 toytec top spacer driver side for driver lean.
Sides are within an 1/8 of an inch (almost even) with the driver side being the higher, with only a quarter tank of gas... (ok, OCD kicking in here). Its right where it needs to be.

Alignment-I am still running Stock UCA's. Will post back with alignment specs in a week once i get it done.

Rear-for reference, i am running the superflex HD's in the rear with new boss shocks (these are 3/4 longer than 5100s) also needed to install the bumpstop from toytec per their recommendation for the longer shock. These measure center wheel to fender right at 24 with just the bumper/carrier/spare and cargo empty.

Ride height looks good. the only thing I found was my ome coils sagged really badly within about a year, so be prepared for that disappointment, and I'm sure you've also noted that the springs will settle 1/2" or so in the first couple days as well.

I want to go with the 2887s as well but any other recommendations? Looking to achieve a near 3" lift in the front with a 120lb bumper(addicted offroad bumper to be exact)

Your Sig says you have 884, Do you like them? If so maybe just go to 885's unless you want a winch also, then do 887. But, in my research, when you start adding weight the options pretty much go to coilovers pretty fast. With coilovers and the weight I have I should get 700lb coils. at 120lbs i imagine 650 coils would be great.

I agree the height now looks about right. If they sag too much, i will just pull the strut mounts off the boss coils i have, which will give them another 1/2 to 3/4 height at the fender, and effectively add more droop:laugh:

The 2884's have been great. I have 1/4 top plates on top giving me a near 3" lift. The steel bumper is about 110-120lbs so you think the 2885's + 1/4 top plates will keep things at around 3" of lift?

Alignment follow up

As promised, I did end up putting a 1/2 inch top plate on the driver side and moved the 1/4 to the passenger. measures just over 22.75 center wheel to fender now. Looks perfect imo. Here are the alignment specs with stock UCA. After 10 days of driving on this setup, still super happy with it.

I'm running the 885's to offset 130 pounds of bumper and winch. Absolutely happy going on 2 years later. No spacers plates, but I only wanted 2" and that's what I got.

Follow Up

Just wanted to post an update about this setup 20k later for those interested. As Jono.ful stated, they have sagged about a total of 1/2-3/4 of an inch. This is also after adding a second battery, so more weight up front. They have performed fantastic both on and offroad the many times I have been offroad in the last 10 months. 20k in, i have noticed the shocks are a little softer compared to when they were stock, but nothing uncommon. No rust/leaks etc.... Only been through 1 winter. I am completely satisfied with them.

That picture of the strut looks a bit like the lower coil seat cup was installed upside down. Maybe it's just the angle since it's sideways?

Looks like there is a gap between the end of the coil, and the seat.

It's a common installation error. The "cup" should be facing upwards, like a "cup", unlike the factory coil seat that is welded on and is slightly different. The coil can then sit against the notch properly and the right lift height will be given. Probably 1/2" lower than it should be with that thing upside down.
