OME 60073... new "soft shock"

Anyone hear of these? I stumbled across them as a new "option" on the Toytec site for their OME lift kits. Surprised I can't find much info on them at this time.

I can't tell if they're a new product. The literature says they're for softer springs.
The heavy load, high spring rate OME springs and shocks I have now on the 4runner are not as nice as the Bilsteins I had on my previous Toyota truck that had stock springs(torsion bars and leafs).
But, on the other hand, I can load a huge payload into my current truck and the rear end doesn't appear to sag.

I have these shocks with my 906s which are pretty stiff coils, so I can only speak for pairing them with the 906s...would prob be better suited with a softer OE coil.... I am getting LC 8/7.5 coils installed soon so we'll see how they are with the longer softer LC coils...

I purchased these with the boss system. Installing not this Monday but the next. I'll let you know

So how do these "softer" shocks ride? you said you would tell us what they are like.

They ride pretty nice. I got the 550 lb boss coilovers. Have them set at 2.5" and can't notice much difference from the front and rear ride. Still not a Cadillac.

I was headed toward the 881.

But since this rig runs light 90% of the time and does not tow, 880 is more than plenty.

Sweet ride. Loaded with the band and the instruments, Cadillac.

My only concern was with soft springs and shocks it would sag if you put a chihuahua in the back

I shared the same concern.
Then I loaded up with a four dudes (one BIG), and a bunch of congas, etc.
...Cadillac.
No 'sag' detected.
But that's 10% of the time.
The majority of my driving is stock weight and I'm happy to not rattle fillings.
Over time, who knows.
OME is known for maintaining their integrity.
I would not call them 'soft'. Simply not rigid, but firm.

Just realized you're getting it on Friday.
Of course you're going to love it. OME is the best.
It's like a whole new vehicle. Cornering, braking, etc.
Especially with the new 60073 Nitrocharger.
They certainly have tuned these things to work as one.

Thanks. I hope they are awesome. I am hoping I didn't go too light because I do have a front bumper and winch. We shall see!

Nah.
OME systems are typically overbuilt. For longevity.
Even light duty is worlds beyond stock anything.
Especially after hundreds of thousands of miles.
...They are awesome.

Well, I installed mine less than 2 months ago, so we're still just breaking in.
Only light to medium off-road so far. Nothing to really demonstrate the legendary qualities they're known for.
I was able to notice the absence of 'boom', 'bang' and 'crunch'. Which were typical sounds of the original stock set up.
That may have to do with new prothane bushings on the sway bars.
The degree of control is impressive.
All the madness on and off road is somehow translated to a buttery ride in the cabin.
