OME Front Coilovers

Currently running Toytec Boss coilovers. Both shocks have blown with <20,000 miles on them. Looking for replacement for front suspension but not wanting to spend 2k. I have the OME sport shocks in the rear with toytec coils. Getting ~3" of lift.

I have searched but dont see a ton of reviews for their front coilover system. I'm wanting to do the 881s. Anybody who is running this care to share their opinion? Ride? Quality?

I have 881s with the .5" poly spacer on top. I've had them for about 10k miles now and I like them just fine. Not an improvement over stock ride, but not bad enough to complain about. Also for reference I'm using land cruiser coils in the rear with OME 60073 sport shocks.

Ride quality is so subjective though. After reading about lifts on this forum and seeing people talk about OME being stiff without added weight, I expected this suspension to ride much worse.

I've got the OME 883s up front. Definitely a little on the stiff side but the shocks are still in great shape after 30k hard miles on them. 881s would probably be good if you're not running any extra weight in the front.

I JUST replaced my 881s with 883s. I have a CBI hybrid front bumper. With the 881s on the second perch of my tundra 5100s, i was only sitting at about 22" hub to fender. It would also dive like crazy under heavy braking...drove like a caddy...floating around.

With the 883s on the same perch im sitting at 24" h2f...finally level with the rear which im running 891s and 5100s.

Upgrading to the 3s made ALL the difference in the world. No more unreasonable nose dives. Not too firm (for me). I actually think it is now less jarring than before.

The 883s are IDENTICAL to the 881s on overrall height. the difference is that they are a ~600lb coil vs the ~500lb 881. the overall diameter of the actual spring rod is 17mm instead of 16mm as well. i didnt run into any clearance or binding issues. They are a bit more work to compress on your own if you do it that way, but my "OEM" brand compressors were easily up to the task.

FYI...I'll be putting up the 881s (with less than 5k on them) up in a sale post soon. No hard wheeling on them, just a few hwy miles and crappy utah roads/trails.

I put 881s on the front of my 97 when I got it in 2013. 50K miles later, they haven't sagged much, if any. They were chosen to accommodate a heavier bumper with optional winch, which never happened.
So, with the stock front weight, they ride a bit high and the wheels sit with a small amount of positive camber when the truck is empty of cargo. They are paired with the stock OME shock of the day. The set up rides stiff but with good control. The stiffness mellows out once the vehicle is loaded up.

Thanks for the info. Think im going to pull the trigger on the 881s and sport shocks pre-assembled. As far as pulling old coilovers and installing new it's basically 4 bolts right? I'm not very mechanically inclined but wondering if its something I can do myself?
