OME Lift installed!

Man after a long day, about 6 hours worth of work I am done with my lift.

I got the medium front and rear springs and struts from Toytec.

The fronts where tricky getting the top plate on. Our spring compressor didn't give us enough slack on the top of the strut.

We just put it on without the top spacer....put it in the car and once the bottom strut was connected we had a lot more slack on top and then took the nut off and then put the top spacer on and then put the nut back on.

The rears...tricky. The best way to get the rears off....and I want to copyright this process.

Get a 14mm stuck on the top bolt (PITA bolt) then....DRILL a hole through the top part of the strut. Stick a screwdriver through it and just start turning. Once you get it broken you can work it like a ratchet if the top is connected to a ratchet.

I'll have pictures of this later. I will actually have pictures of the entire car later! My girlfriend is pissed...(I'm posting this in the bathroom :/) because I didn't spend the day with her, oh well...many more days, no more lift!

The only problem I have is that 60+ on the highway things seem a little shakey. Not sure if it's the springs and struts having to settle or if it's the medium duty springs that are doing that. I will get an alignment tomorrow and see if that fixes the problem. Anyone else ever have this problem?

De Ja Vu. I am having the same exact problem. It starts right about 60 and disappears at 70. I really want to know what it is. Glad to hear your lift install went well. I had to use a giant wrench to get my rear shocks off. oh and im sorry but I have to do this lol

Main reason for the lift was because of that rear sag!

My secret to get the rear strut off. It was so rusted that pipe grips or vice grips wouldn't hold on. Once we did this it worked like a charm. Just drilled a hole through it.

Now I wait for them to settle. I got an alignment today and it drastically helped with the driving. The guy at good year said the alignment was really bad.

4runsport, did you get an alignment after you put the lift on? It needs to be done after a lift because we have IFS. Not aligning it will cause major shaking at highway speeds and will cause much more tire wear and your steering components and bearings will suffer too.

Alignment will be done this wednesday as well as a balance. Hopefully that will clear everything up. Mainly feels like the driver side front tire is the one doing the shaking.

I avoided the Diff Drop on my Gen 2 Tacoma for fear of vibes. Is it 100% ok to do it on the 4 Runners, does anyone complain of vibes afterwards? I am looking at this kit too. Love the pics! Too many freaking options. Is that stock tire size Auxiliary?

It's fine to do a diff drop on a 3rd gen and I 100% recommend it. No vibes from mine. It will make your CV axles last longer.
