OME+Spacers bad idea?

so i have an OME 2" lift new coils and shocks. My question is: would i just be ruining my lift by adding 1-1.5 inch spacers? i do off road quite a bit with moderate articulation from the suspension. any help would be appreciated thanks.

If you want more lift, get a body lift. Don't put spacers on top of the OME. If you absolutely HAVE to do spacers, I believe Toytecs topout spacers work in conjunction with the OME. I could be wrong though.

I've never done a body lift before. The parts are cheaper than spacers I believe, and I am unsure about labor costs. They would probably charge you around 250-400 to put the spacers on top of the OME; then you would need to get it re-aligned.
 
A body lift will likely run you quite a bit for labor. I have installed a few body lifts (on other vehicles, but the idea is the same) and they are quite a pain in the ass. Remember, everything that contacts the body and something attached to the frame, will also need to be adjusted/lifted. This includes: body mounts (of course), mechanical levers for t-case and/or tranny, radiator, fuel hoses, steering linkage, etc. (if these apply to your situation). They are not difficult to install, they just take some time. If you can install a suspension lift, then you can do the body lift yourself.

Also, on my trail rig ('97 Jeep TJ), I run a suspension lift and spacers on the front (to level out because of winch weight) and I have had no troubles with the springs sagging. I also have friends that run OME springs on their jeeps and also use spacers (for the same reason I do) and they have no trouble with the springs.

Those vehicles are solid front axle vehicles. He is talking 3"-3.5" of lift which IMO is going to be too much lift on the front CV axles on the 4Runner. I wouldn't do it if it were me, simply because of the front CV angles. If you want a little more lift you should look into a body lift from 4Crawler. You can get a 1.5" body lift from him and get the lift you are looking for for about $200 or a little less. You will need the shifter brackets and bumper kit to raise the bumpers back up.

If you aren't interested in the body lifts, then I would look into getting rid of whatever front springs you have and going with the OME 883. They will be very stiff but will give you 3" of lift if not a little more. Then you can finish out the rears with spacers.
 
Correct, SFA on those vehicles. Above, I was strictly speaking from the standpoint of damage to the springs. I guess I didnt clarify that very well.

As far as these Indy front vehicles, I am just now getting used to them. I have only had one for a week now and it is the first Indy vehicle I have owned.

thanks trd_4runnin, from what ive gathered it is smarter to go with a body life for the sake of sparing future problems with cv joints etc...etc.
