OME springs

Ok all. New here but not to toyotas. I have an 85 runner all stock. I have been eyeballing OME for a while. There is a guy locally with a set of new 2" OME springs. Says he mounted them but they were never driven. They look very clean in the pics. He is asking $350 for the springs (front and rear). Good deal? What else do I need to purchase to make these work. Shackles and flat pitman arm? I only want around 3-3.5" overall lift. I was planning on doing a bastard pack and shackles to get my desired height. Then just shim the diffs as needed. What are you thoughts. Thanks

It is only the springs for sale

I never cared for 2" on any of my solid axle rigs. 5" is the perfect height for me as I'm 6'4". The price is ok if they are ome. As far as I know with a 2" curve change you won't need anything more it should all line up. It may be a stretch for brake lines when you max suspension out but other then that you should be ok.

Thanks bad,

My last 85 P/U had a 4" on it and that settled to around 3-3.5 inches. I felt it was perfect for me. I'm only planning on running 33's. As this is a carseat crawler for me. Occasional overland style wheeling. Lockers, sliders, Bud built skids, all in the future. Still have to drop in my motor I just put together. And now we think we are selling the house so that will slow me down. Just going to piece it together for now. Hate doing it this way but sometimes that's how it is.

2" OME is great for a multipurpose rig that's going to see significant pavement time. If you need more room for tires you can always cut and tub.

OME have stock length and stock eyes, you technically don't need anything besides the springs to bolt them up. HOWEVER - the spring pins in front and rear are known for freezing with rust, especially the rears, it's very possible that you'll need to cut them. It's also a good idea to replace the ubolts - the stock ones should be long enough, but they stretch and are supposed to be replaced with new every time they come off. And greasable shackles are never a bad idea, and this is a perfect chance to throw them on.

If he mounted them, the springs probably already have bushings, but make sure the seller is including them or you'll need a set of those too.

I have OME light duty springs (and shocks) all the way around on my 85 extra cab. $350 for basically brand new is a good deal. I used stock shackles and didnt change the pitman arm. I did end up taking a leaf out of the rear because it was much higher than the front. As for shims, you might be okay on a 4Runner. the truck has a slight vibration in a small range of speeds, but when there is a little bit of weight in the back (my dirtbike) any shaking that i had goes away. Also, fully flexed, there is still some slack in the brake lines.

I would look at "0-100's" build, i believe he is running OME and might be able to relate a little better as he has a 4Runner

here is a pic for reference. I am running 31's and could easily go to 33's.

Yep, I have OME leafs all around. $350 is a great price for front and back springs. I paid a little under double that and got springs, bushings, and U-Bolts. The only things I would worry about are brake lines and shocks. Depending on how long your shocks are, your travel will be limited (duh) I have 10" shocks and I have plenty of flex :

(not the best pic I'm sorry)

As for brake lines though, you will most likely need to extend yours. I recommend checking out rockauto.com and buying some rear brake lines (mine were part number 15044329 and only $6 each) and threading those into the front or rear. You don't have to do that, but it is a very easy, cheap way to double the length of your lines. Anyway, you should for sure look into those springs! :thumb3:

Ok so it looks like I am picking those springs up this week. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]. Going to be a bit before I get to put them on but non the less. I will have them and that's a win to me. This finally might be the summer of the 4Runner for my. Get the motor in put the springs on, build/buy a soft top. Gears lockers and tires may have to wait till winter/spring but who knows. Either way I call it progress.

Man looking at your 85 pickup make me miss mine so bad. I had the same color minus the roll bar. I had a lot of fun in that truck. But excited to build this runner. I have named my yotatech build the Car Seat Crawler.
