ome torsion bar tunning ?

Hello,

I install an old man emu rear suspension on my 89 tr4 and about to swap the torsion bars, here's what OME say when installing them "ADJUST FRONT TORSION BAR FOR ADDITIONAL HEIGHT AFTER INSTALLING REAR SPRINGS. SET RIDE HEIGHT TO 1/3 UPPER BUMP STOP CLEARANCE AND
2/3 LOWER BUMP STOP CLEARANCE." Do anyone known what they are referring
to with the upper and lower bump?

No I cant translate that, but my bars finally come in tommorow, STOKED!

Im sure your best bet is just to play around with em, just like the stock....you could jack it all the way up but it will be stiffer than not jacked up much ya know? Got any pics of em? How are you liking the ome stuff?

Hello, no pic yet and haven't drive it either, I have the leaf spring swap and all the shocks on but I am missing the the upper nut on top of the adjusting bolt to install the torsion bar, you will need both, the rest of the hardware is reusable. how is yours coming along ?

When you adjust the bars, the measurement from the upper bump stop to the control arm will be 1/2 the distance of the lower bump stop to control arm measurement......That's all it means. But I would adjust to your personal tastes.
Did you buy a new set of bolts from Toyota for the torsion bars? I wouldn't attempt to re-use the original hardware, just my .02

Start this friday after class at 12:30pm , I CANT WAIT!
I got all new torsion hardware from my local dealer.. to hopefully smooth the process out.

my bars JUST came in, 3 minutes ago, im chugging a beer, holding in a bong rip and typing at the same time! Im stoked, ITS ALL HERE. FINALLY! Woot!
Out of curiosity, what did your dealer charge you for all the hardware?

It cost me $80 for the following:
#94182-11000 nut,lock (2)
94110-41000 nut (2)
90101-10140 Bolt, Hexa(2)
90948-02034 Retainer (2)
90440-14003 Tube (2)
90948-o1002 cushions (8)
90948-02004 Retainer (8)

these are the adjusting pieces from the diagram pulled up by the parts dept. for a 1987 4runner, not the mounts or bushings.... i assume they wouldnt work on a larger dia. bar?

how's the install going? I'd like some pics as i have picked up a old set of 26mm torsion bars and I will very likely need similar hardware..i have a 93 4runner IFS front end and found some good Downey brand Torsion 26mm bars.:guitar2:

2/3 +1/3 =3/3 or 1 or 100% so adjust yer front suspension so that most of (2/3) yer space between yer lower bump stop and yer,,,,wait, what the hell is an upper bump stop anyway????:nerd:
