OME883 springs

I know, I know...another lift type question...
I have read that folks on the FJ forum have used the OME883's to lift the front end of their trucks, roughly 1 1/4 to 1 1/2". Is it safe to assume that based on CJ3flyr's experience with throwing FJ stock springs in the front of his runner and gaining roughly 3/4", that i would gain 2 to 2 1/4" inches by installing the OME883's in the front of my runner?

I am interested in what you learn. I inquired on the forums about 883's and was told they're a 3rd gen spring. I had come to the same conclusion you did; they'd be nice on a 4th gen gen for a good ride and mild lift. I did't know if they'd fit in the shock/struts so I never tried it. Now that you say some FJ guys have done it I wish I had gone for the 883's.

I think it would be a very cool choice if it will work.

exactly my thought. i noticed that they were normally a 3rd gen spring, but it seems like they will fit the strut based on people's experience in the fj forum. i was just curious on lift height, spring rate, etc.

STOCK 16mm x 100mm/115mm x 345mm - 7.75 coils - 3.7kg - 580lb/in

FJ 16mm x 100mm/115mm x 351mm - 8.75 coils - ...kg - ...lb/in (+0.24" +...%)

883 17mm x 100mm/115mm x 375mm - 10.6 coils - 5.7kg - 590lb/in (+1.18" +2%)

884 17mm x 100mm/115mm x 385mm - 10.6 coils - 5.7kg - 590lb/in (+1.58" +2%)

885 17mm x 100mm/115mm x 395mm - 10.6 coils - 5.7kg - 590lb/in (+1.97" +2%)

886 18mm x 100mm/115mm x 402mm - 12.5 coils - x.xkg - 660lb/in (+2.25" +14%)

I am not sure but I would guess your estimate of +2

i did see that table on 120. Thank you for the link to cruiseroutfitters as well. I am on the brink of ordering. I just don't want to be disappointed w/only a 1" inch of lift. I'm looking for as level as poss, 1 1/2 to 2" w/minimal rake. You always come through w/the good info Chris.

I say do it :bigok: I suspect there are a few members that would elect to do 883's over a 2/1 spacer lift.

What's about to happen is as follows: You're going to do 883's, post some pics, write about how great it drives then I am going to front suspension envy!

as opposed to doing just the springs, i may have slee offroad pre assemble the 883's w/the corresponding ome strut for a simple install on my part. the more i think about it, the more i want to do it.

Are you planning to leave the rear alone? I ask because the change of front struts may leave the rear feeling soft. If money not the issue get some rear shocks too. If you want "very nice" but on a budget perhaps adding the 883's on the stock front struts and some takeoff FJ rear springs or Airlift 1000's on the rear to keep the rates balanced.

What I'm saying is if you stiffen the compression and rebound dampening and the spring rate in the front you're going to want a little something in the back. I understand your goal isn't to lift the back appreciably but IMHO you
