On deployment missing home.

This is my first deployment and I'm really missing home, and it seems like this site is way more effective in being able to talk to people, I'm in Bahrain and it sucks out here because it's so dang hoooooott! I miss my family, friends, and most defiantly miss my 4runner any one have any advice for me? What is it that I can do to make time go by fast where there's not much to do? I'm on an MCM if you know what those are I'm sorry. Haha thanks.

at first, time seems slow. get occupied with something and before you know it, time has gone by. i was in the middle east for a year and a month and at the beginning it was awful! i too missed home, my family, conveniences, etc. met some good guys and got together and that helped.

Always good to find someone with same interests or close to talk to that helps me when homesick, I haven't been that far fr om home before but I think I speak for all of us when I say thanks for your brave service I'm sure some of us on here will chat up when possible. Come home safe. :beer:

Thanks guys, I feel like there's a bunch of like minded people on this forum. I'm trying to find something to preoccupy myself with, since my ship just got it's certifications I think I'm going to start lifting again. And as always it's a huge honor to serve our Proud country.

I'm sure lifting would help. I have no idea where you are or what kind of facilities you have there....would running help at all?

Like others have said, just stay focused and do something in your down time that you would enjoy. PT, reading, learn a new skill set, etc. And before you know it, you'll be bound for home.

From one military family to another, thank you very much for your service and sacrifice from you and your family.

Perhaps one day I will get to share the same honor of serving our country...

I'm on deployment in Bahrain which if you look at Saudi Arabia it's the small sliver of land southeast of it. There aren't very many things to do here. Running would probably be a good thing to do but it's Ramadan and I can't leave my ship without longsleeves and jeans. But I'm going to make the most of it, it's tax free pay here and most of that money is going to my runner.

My mom always said if you put your mind to it then you can do anything. Just like I put my mind to joining the military, then I put my mind to being the top of my class in Aschool, after that was making rank and I did it. Staying motivated is key, if you want the opportunity, pursue it. Don't dream it do it because dreaming is for sleepers and sleepers don't get anything done. Thanks still for the advice, I just wish I could get some schooling in.

Don't know what you mean specifically, but use some of that downtime to read and research. Become your own tutor / teacher.

My brother is stationed over there, he's a ociffer, on a sweeper. Michaud. You can always find him an talk trucks. He's got a '99 Taco that he's done a good bit of shit to.
