Onboard air in 5th Gen

Who on the forums have installed an onboard air system (compressor and/or tank) in the 5th Gens? I am interested to know what equipment was purchased and the installation locations... Also, how difficult was it to install?

Does anyone have pictures of the installation?

Harper7 is the only one with a compressor installed so far. I don't know if he has it wired and plumbed yet.

I recently used it a bunch for airing up my tires with no problems.It would fill all four 305/65/17 tires in about 5 minutes from 25 to 40 no problem.About as fast as I walked around the truck with a little lag when I got to the 4th tire.
I have a line running to a quick disconnect down on my frame rails by the sliders and I also have a 26 inch Hadley knockoff big rig horn behind the front bumper hooked up.

ViAir 480c with a 2 gallon tank. I bought my tank,lines 120/150 pressure switch and valves from hornblasters.com . Basically picked their brains for what I needed and how to hook it up.

And a recent pic after wiring and plumbing.

I installed a portable CO2 tank made by theSource link provided.

Good for air up, air tools and can even power an air locker. I seated a tire that rolled off the rim in Moab. These are good for200lbs pressure will fill dozens of your and your friend's tires. Comes with a bracket I mounted to the side of my rear cargo area.

T2, do you leave the tank in the 4R all the time? Any risk with changing temps and a compressed gas?

Tanks are rated for terrestrial temps. If ya plan on wheeling on say, sunny side of Mercury, I would consider a topping off your A/C coolant. :biggrin2:

Tank is fine in Texas parking lot, sealed up, killer heat....

Would the CO2 tank fit where Harper has his mounted? T2, do you have any pics of your install? I'd love to see where you mounted it.

Also, do you get it filled at a local Airgas or National Welders? I have a 5 lb and a 20 lb CO2 tank that I use for my beer brewing hobby (fermenter and kegerator). I get them filled at the Airgas supply down the street.

Is the regulator adjustable so you can hook up to the tire and have it quit when the desired pressure is reached...?

Anyone have experience running a locker from a tank? Interested in how that would work?
