Once Again.....Another 3rd gen Tire Thread

I just picked up a set of tundra wheels and tires and i'm looking at putting on some new nittos or bfg's but i dont see the point in spending $800 to go up 1" in size. Stock tires are 265/70/17 and most people run a 285/70/17 so i was wondering if anyone has ran the 295/70/17 or the 285/75/17 in the NTG? Or would the 255/80/17 in the bfg km2's be a good choice? I will be installing a OME lift (881's and 891's) with the new tires and spacers if needed.

any help is appreciated

I've actually got a 3rg gen now even though my screen name is 05 LTD. I use to have an 05 but the repo man took it.:ybrick:

Ah... I get it. Make up a quick signature. It's pretty easy and it does help. I'll move this thread to 3rd gen and back to leave a redirect. That may help you.

Would spacers be needed for any or all of the tires i mentioned? I'm kind of leaning towards the 295/70/17 but i'm also looking at the 285/75/17. I think its better to stick to an all terrain since 90% of driving will be on road.

3rd gen stock size is 265/70/16

color me confused as well. You say you have a 3rd gen but your name is 05LTD which would be a 4th gen Runner.

Then I see the post that you had a 4th gen but now have a 3rd gen.

96-02 Runners had 16" wheels for the most part. Stock size would be 265/70/16-many of us run LT265/75/16.

Some Runners even had just the 15" wheels.

Are we talking Tundra stock size? To fit under a 3rd gen Runner?

Yes- some folks do run spacers to keep rubbing away from the A arms up fronts.

If I were even considering running the 17 inch wheels then I would want to strongly consider the Tundra calipers as well. But you say you don't want to spend the money to go up 1 inch in size-but you already have the Tundra wheels....

So if you have 17" Tundra wheels already purchased now-then I think you understand they must be 17" tires... I am missing something here....
