anyone else here that owns a great 3rd gen and had/has enough money to keep it and buy a TRD Pro, drive it a while, take it out 4wheeling and fall completely OUT of love with it as they are soooo big, interior ergonomics suck pretty bad especially the high placement of the window controls n such, tiny monitor, etc...then sell it back to a dealer for very close to what I paid for it and just fall in love once again with my awesome 3rd gen...hehe, God I love my 99!

I can afford a used 5th Gen but I'd rather fly to the Southwest & drive a nice rust free MANUAL 3rd Gen home.

Or just move home to the West. Trust me, you will only miss pizza and bagels. Both those things suck out west. Everything else is better though. lol

I think about it all the time...not Cali though, that place is ****ed up! LOL

Colorado or Texas maybe. I need low taxes & gun friendly. :50cal:

The TRD Off Road replaced the Trail Edition in '17.

The Pro has special stitched front seats, no sunroof, and pro-specific suspension. Black badges and black bumper centers front and rear.

The Off-Road has silver bumper centers, black plate bezel, 7.5" wide wheels, and a sunroof. KDSS is an option on the Off-Road, and not available on the Pro.

And you're not alone OP- my buddy has a '16 SR5 Premium 2, and a '99 IJM Highlander. Him and his lady both prefer the 3rd gen over the 5th gen for everything except long road trips.

I dated a girl from San Jose & my company has an office in Burbank...It's bad! LOL I'm not moving from one Blue state to another..from the #2 taxed state to the #1 taxed state...to the state of Nance Pelosi & Maxine Waters...no ****in way! LOL

in my humble opinion the 3rd gen interior and exterior is the best of all the gens. Love the cloth interior and it has held up well.
I have to agree it is very tough to top the active traction control introduced in the 5th gens but like mentioned, way more fun with skill in the 3rd gens and the rear locker helps as necessary but rarely I have found unless you get a wheel front and rear in the air.
 
Can't afford a 5th gen but I do love my 3rd gen. Which is why it gets the garage and my girls brand new car stays outside lol!

And yes California is that bad. I dream of leaving almost everyday!

I just wish toyota had a option of solid axle and diesel for us here in the states. I've been drooling over videos of people with some sick land cruisers, fzj80 diesel... you get the point.
