The commercials are right, headlights can dim over time. May just be time for a new set of bulbs. (It's a good practice to replace in pairs).
Also, make sure your lens covers are nice and clean. Most times when I noticed dgraded headlamp output, there's a decent buildup of road grime on the lens covers.
My Tundra's covers get so bad at times that I have to wet sand them with 1000+ grit sandpaper to get them clear again.
But my bet just goes to a bulb burning out. HIDs would fix it, unless the cover is starting to get grimed, but I bet a regular set of replacement bulbs would fix it too.
