Only a Body Lift?

Anyone on here running just a body lift (1" or 1.5") on their 3rd Gen? I have a new set of 265/75/16 Duratracs sitting in the garage waiting to be installed on my '98 and I am considering a small lift so they don't look shoved in the wheel wells. I won't be wheeling this vehicle so I don't feel I need additional suspension capabilities.

Food for thought.
How is your suspension now?
Is the rear sitting lower than the front?
The front coils tend to retain their height but the rears tend to sag with age.
Also crawl under and take a look at the rubber cone (jounce bumpers, overload springs) that are inside the rear coils. Are they sitting close to the bottom spring perch?

It may be time to refresh the suspension anyway. The aftermarket coils do handle more weight.

I'm not a big fan of bodylifts but 1" is no big deal.

Im running 265/75/16's now w/ no lift at all. I don't think my tires looked shoved in the wells at all personally-

But there also not "luggy" tires either...

My rear might be sagging a touch, but I don't think it is real bad. I have bald 265/70's on it now and I am like the amount of fender gap I have currently so I am thinking the 1" BL would help me retain the same appearance I have now.

Gerdo, I will take a closer look at my suspension tomorrow. I agree, I am not a big fan of BL's either, but for this current situation I think it might be must best bang for the buck.

I have done the wheeling thing in the past (have had just about every Jeep from stock to 39's). This vehicle is just my DD and hunting vehicle.

I would just buy new springs and shocks and call it good. any 13yr old 4runner is sagging in the rear and if the mileage matches how many years old the truck is it's time for replacements.

Good point. Fresh suspension and the lift you want.

I know mine rides so much better than the worn out stock suspension.

here is my truck with a 2" body lift on stock suspension with the the stock tire size (265/70/16).

doing the body lift alone will give you a bit more clearance for tires and you wouldnt have to do an alignment. i would, however, suggest getting bilstein 5100s up front with stock springs and maybe 99 tall springs out rear. you really cant go wrong with the front bilsteins since you would be getting new shocks and a lift for under $200 shipped.

If you are already on "bald" tires, why not put the new ones on now and then deal with the "shoved in" look. Tires are a huge safety issue and I would rather have new ones installed and worry about the look later. Here is mine, no lift. BFG 265/75/16s.

Tires are going on this week, as soon as I pick up the 'taco wheels I bought.
I will see how they look and go from there....

I easily got 1.5" over the stock '97 configuration - not including tires, total spent = $60
1" BL, '99 springs, Duratrac 285's

sorry not to hi-jack..but how do you guys spot a body lift over a suspension lift. Like lets say you had 2 4runners..one with a 2'' suspension lift and 1 with a 2'' body lift...how could you tell if the running boards were still on? (i say that because you could always look at the frame right under the running boards)

Gap in the wheel wells between inner fender and frame, gap in front bumper if they didnt raise the bumper for the lift and a few other things.

OP- I have the suspension lift but I am also adding a 1" body. IMO if you are not going to wheel it then my suggestions would be as follows.

New 99 Tall coils with shocks to freshen suspension and give you the 1" lift.

Second choice would be the 1" BL.
