Only took 2 1/2 months......until I saw another 5th G 4R on the road! It was a Magnetic Grey Trail (1st trail I have seen in person, very nice)! It was only a couple miles from my house too, early AM so I am guessing they live near me....hmm....wonder if they are on here yet?

Of course it was the one day this month I was not driving my 4R :driving:

Does anyone know, can dealers trade to get a Trail if they don't have one, or will they only trade comparable models for colors?

I want a Trail but they are telling me 4 months for a custom order.

** I looked at a few used 4R before the 10's came out there. The reps were very nice, however did not want to budge on price. The 2 I looked at are still there, going on over 4 months now. I also asked them to call me when the 10's came in, never received a call, their loss **

No expert but my dealer told me he traded a Highlander for my SR5 so I would imagine dealers can trade anything just depends on the willingness to work for it. Funny thing about my deal was during the trade process Toyota halted the Highlander from being sold so my dealer ended up moving something he couldn't move for my 4R that he could.

It doesn't have be for a color swap or model swap only. Usually what happens is the dealer that wants the trade (the dealer your purchasing from) will have to give up one of their desirable models to you the 4Runner you want. So they might send over a SR5 for a Trail and maybe give up a Prius V and get a Prius II in return, or a Camry XLE V6 for a Camry V6 LE. It's almost like trading baseball cards as a kid.

A special order takes about three months on average. But I've heard some where Toyota build vehicles (trim and colors) in batches, so it could take longer. I waited about three months for mine from the time I told the sales rep what I was looking for to delivery.
