OOOOOO CANADA - My new 4Runner may speak French

Just found out my 2000 4Runner was manufactured for the Canadian market. And would have originally come with an odometer in Km and Km/hr. It is currently in miles and miles/hr.

Things that make you go HMMMMMMMM

Big questions:
Am I going to run into parts availability issues? I'm sure there are differences, but are the "guts" the same?

I thought it odd that I have a Limited w/o heated seats and fog lights. What else am I missing or what else do I have that does not come in a US marketed 4Runner.

Anyone run into this?
I know there are some on this forum from "The Great White North":canada:. Any insite?

I'd be more worried about rust since its from the great white north.

Rust is not a mystery

If you look at where I live, rust is not a mystery. It is a very clean truck with minor mods and a little "Tennessee Pinstriping".

The nice lady from Toyota CN implied that I may run into issues as a DYIer.

Just wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge of this situation.

AFAIK there shouldn't be really any difference in mechanical parts, there might be some different safety features that are required here in Canada or maybe a block heater. I know back in the late 80's early 90's vehicles up here needed to have DRLs in them whereas the US didn't require them for a few more years.

Both my Jeeps happened to be built in Canada.
Actually worked out good, the roll bar in my Canadian CJ was a lot beefier than the US counterpart, which came in handy when I rolled it badly.
Canadian standards seem to be better than US. IIRC 1st gen 4Runners had rear shoulder belts in Canada, while they weren't available in the US. That's what that threaded bung on each side of the bar is for.

As far as I've been able to tell, the DRL's are the only difference and may not even be a difference at all. Some of the US specs have DRL's I believe. Thats the only difference I've noticed from browsing these forums for the last 2-3 years. Mine is a Canadian truck FYI.
