HOW DO YOU OPEN AND RESEAL HEADLIGHTS?

Hi All,
I finally bought a set of 06 headlights off ebay and plan to replace the lights in my 03 runner. I'm planning to open the lights and paint the inside galactic grey, like my runner, then reseal them.
I'm going to make the leap and install a 4300 HID kit.
I've read through many of the threads and can see that I have to bake the lights at 260 or so for 3-5 minutes to open them but I haven't been able to find what product or method is used to reseal the light.
Any suggestions are much appreciated.

I sold my 96 limited about a month ago and picked up my new to me 03 limited V8 with just 89,000km. It's in great shape and so far I've added the Canadian bug shield, Weathertech floor liners, 35% tint on all the windows behind the driver and the front windows tinted at 20%. I'm looking forward to dressing this truck up and all the info on this forum is really helpful.

If you are going to open them up why not replace the halogen projectors with HID projectors as well?

Not sure what the bake time/ temp is but head over to hidplanet.com and ask, you might get the bug to do a full HID retro instead of just a kit (as I did...).

Banker, I saw you on the HID forum when I checked that out, how do you rate your set up? Did it make a big difference even without doing the true HID projectors or do you feel that the projectors that came with the 06 headlights are okay.

Anyone else out there that has done this mod?
I am thinking about going all the way , what projector did you find worked best in the 06 headlight and do you have any photos of the install?

If money is not an issue for you (which it doesn't seem like) I'd take bankers advice and go with a full HID retrofit. You're already getting your feet wet with opening up the housing, might as well drop in the HID projectors while you got those suckers baked open.

HID retro is the best way to go if you've got the time and money is not an issue, granted it will give you the best light output.

Staying with the OEM projectors mated with a nice HID kit is optimal and is 10X better than OEM halogens, but you don't get the wide spread beam pattern that you'd get with a true HID retrofit.

Haven't completed the install yet, still in the research stage although I think I'm closing in on a setup...

FX35 bi-xenon projectors, I want to try to maintain the halogen high beams for the added light (up near my folks place it's really dark).

lawwailok, who is also a memeber at hidplanet.com, did a TSX conversion and seemed to have good reviews (previously had a plug and play kit).

My previous vehicle had factory HID's (Acura TSX), I know compared to the halogens in the 4R it will be a night and day difference, just need to get going on it now.

To answer the original question, I heated the housings back up and pressed them together firmly all the way around. Then used black silicone and siliconed the crap out of them. 2 years and no problems.
You might look into HIR bulbs. Go to ebay and search HIR. Lots more light (though not as much as HID) for lots less $$.
