Opening rear hatch from inside

Not yet. I have the solenoid & relay, just need to get a good switch & find the time. My SAR training has been eating all my weekends lately.

I know this was 8 years ago but did you ever get this to work?

I was specifically wondering about the selenoid release though. That seems like the ideal way to do it. Wire a always on window switch into the back and wire hatch open switch wired into the selenoid next to it. My dream atm is to pair this with one of those hatch tents for living space while glamping.

This isn't what you are looking for, but you reminded me that there was a forum member or 2 that developed and sold a kit here on T4R when I first joined this forum (less than 4 years ago). Can't remember much about it, but it involved a nylon fabric pull strap that passed through a hole you cut somewhere on the inside of the lower hatch panel that was pretty much a straight shot to the latch. You sat up in your chillly little cocoon and yanked it to unlatch the hatch. Seemed handy but I never got around to it. Seemed like a better way to exit the rig in a hurry with guns blazing than clambering out one of the rear doors.......
