What you mentioned and what Mason posted is exactly what I had in there before (the mats with the perforated holes). Problem was the smell from them on a hot summer day.
Update to the Line-X. I'm guessing it will go away in a couple days, but there is a slight odor from it that you smell when you get in. Once I open the window for a minute the smell goes away but thought I'd share my experiences. Will post updates to how well the Line-X is working, and if the smell continues. In short though, the smell isn't strong enough for me to regret doing this and I'm sure after a week or two the smell will dissipate.
Update: Smell only lasted a few weeks and is completely odorless now.

I'm guessing that is the Large size correct? Also, is the bottom rubbery feeling?

Yup it's the large. The bottom is kinda sticky. It definitely doesn't slip around under the dogs.

Thanks. Found one today in the store, but it was a medium. You're right, that bottom material WILL NOT slip around. Guess I'm gonna order one today. Tks again.

Hey there Senior Chief, hows that Line-X holding up in the cargo area since you've put it in? I'm considering having some put on, these field exercises are starting to take a toll on my carpet/plastics.

At the begining of this post I was like "This guy is stupid" but after looking and reading your result I think it looks great and well done.
One question though, when you fold the rear seat cushion forward does the Line-x not rub at the leather on the bottom of the seat.
DogNick thanks for posting that big cushion too, I need to buy one for my pooches, looks liek it fits perfectly in the back.

Holding up the same as if it were in the back of a P/U truck. In short, it's great!

Thanks for the update, now to talk to the Line-X guy tomorrow and see if he can give me a great deal like you got.
Other questions:
-what other colors do they do besides black and red?
-what shop did you get it done at in San Diego?
-and finally are you hitting the trails during the Independence Day break? I should be heading up to Temecula during that time.
Well, I might as well make my first post a question that I don't think can be answered by the search button, so here goes.
Has anyone ever considered using the liner on the side panels as well? I like what has been done so far, but what about pulling out the side panels (the ones with the wheel wells on them that go all the way up to where the trim changes from black to tan) and spraying them as well? I realize that I would have to work around the speaker on the right side as well as the inverter plug, but it seems as though it would provide much better coverage in case a dog was to scratch around. Anyone have any ideas as to why this would not work?

1. Line-X should be able to do multiple colors (you'll have to ask when you visit a shop)

Side panels would look good and I almost did them but they are super easy to clean as is and adding Line-X to the side panels would have made it a "lil" harder to clean.
So after a fair amount of talking with shop owners that do the spray in liners the basic agreement is that the product was never designed to stick to plastic such as the side panels. They say that even with proper prep there is no guarantee that it will last. Im still considering doing this, but just thought I would put it on here in case anyone else felt like trying the same thing.

I can say confidently that mine have held up well over the last 6 months. Given the environment (indoors) and the fact that it doesn't see any heavy hauling (besides my dog) I think that it's more then adequate and will hold up just fine.
I have a feeling the shops that told you that, said that because they don't want to **** around with it since it takes more prep time. That's my .03 cents!
