opinions? ford 347 stroker and c4 transmission into a 92 4runner

Hey hey... so I have been debating whether to install my built 347 motor and c4 transmission into my 92 4runner. Both have been custom built with all new parts for my 67 mustang. I lost interest in the mustang restomod build and I know I wont get what I paid for it if I sell it unfinished. This is not my daily driver just another toy. Motor and transmission are just sitting in my garage. Plus I hate the 3.slow motor!

I need motivation and advice from yall to whether to do it or don't bother with it. For the ones that will argue why put a ford into a toyota... I say why not, if it aids in my pursuit of wheeling happiness lol

I will take any advice... issues, fitment, guidance

here is a pic of my truck... don't hate on the massive amount of bling from the front bumpers... lol :pound:

I can side with you on adding more under the hood and getting the 3.bolw out.
I've never been a ford fan myself, but to each his own.
I will say that it will be a very tight fit.
Like mod the fire-wall and still cant fit a proper radiator in, tight.

(I'd go with a Small block chevy myself, but you know of how often people 5.0 swap a camaro.) LMAO!!!! :flamethrwoer2:

True true... I was thinking about the chevy motor but I have a brand new rebuilt ford motor and tranny sitting in my garage! I have no idea what to do with it now.. I really don't like fords anymore..

On another note I believe the ford motors are narrower and easier for fitment when compared to chevys. This is what i have been told.

there should be plenty of room.

and with correct accessory/pulley set up you may even be able to run an engine driven fan. at the least a puller E-fan.

Yes, keep it ford.
This is the one I built this last spring/summer for my mustang

That motor looks sooo puuuurrrrddddyyy!!! I can't tell but does it match the exterior color of the stang? oooo man.. why... why must you show me these things when i'm trying to move on from my ex lol... what year stang?

I say most definitely go for it! I already did the Chevy route, and it was great when done (although not so great at times when putting it together--LOL). A Ford V8 would actually fit better than the Chevy because it IS narrower, and the distributor is up front (a BIG plus!). You'll have a blast. Check out Advance Adapters for kits, as well as Northwest Offroad (who use many of AA's kits--they just won't tell you up front).

Thanks for all the support guys! Yea I agree mr bucknut with all the countless hours spent researching and reading threads most say the ford will be a bit easier to work with.

Also nice mustang mr v8. I love the black! I left mine flat primered black because when i did drive it... I DROVE it hard and wrecked hard occasionally too! lol. Its all fun and games until you fold your front wheel in after your ass end slides out...

haha!! I got him!! :heh: *shift* *gas*.... oooh shiit.. CURB!!! :fear:

It's a early 65, so pretty much a 64.5 with an alternator instead of a generator. All numbers matching. Bought it when I was 16 and have done a complete restoration since then. It only comes out on nice summer days. It's the vehicle I will never sell.

Sorry for the thread hijack, now :focus:

ANYTHING willl fit with a big enough hammer, lots of creative swearing, and enough beer... and perhaps a few good creative friends.....

I say, why not?

and hey..... thats a sweeeeeeeeeet bumper haters gonna hate

I dont mind at all sir! You have a nice looking stang! Now you have me wanting to finish my 67 restomod project... hmm maybe buying my buddies 383 would be better lol
:dammit: modding... it never really ends does it.. :twitch:

HMMMMM.... I've heard about you Idaho folks :wow:

UMMMM il keep that advice in mind... way back of my mind lol :bolt: just kidding man.. thanks for the support

I'm just a lil bit of a perfectionist, things irritate me when not done the right way... but I feel ya after a couple beers hammers start looking like the right tool.. (works 60 percent of the time... all the time..)

Just remember, when considering the BFH approach (big f'ing hammer)--on a 2nd Gen, the heater core is right behind the firewall, so you can't reshape it much at all without losing your interior heat.

I considered doing this before I ended up installing a new 3.slo.
I like that the dizzy would be in the front (no firewall hammer needed) but then I realized that a Ford 302/AOD/t-case setup will put the front drive shaft on the wrong side.
However, it is possible to run a gear drive Toyota t-case with some mods to the Ford tranny... I just never got that far.

Nah it never ends. haha Doesn't matter if it is the stang or runner.

unless they really changed the engine bay on that year, you wont have any problems with firewall clearance. there is plenty of room

altho, I DO have a stupid body lift on my 85, im POSITIVE it would still easily fit without it. I just haven't cared enough to take it off...

I was recently measuring to drop in a 4.6 DOHC to replace the 302. the heads on that thing are HUGE. im pretty sure it would fit, but I would have to move/rework the steering shaft.
