Opinions on best next move for the T4R

Sorry for the bad picture but this is one of the few I have saved here on my computer at school. So there's a couple things I have in mind for the 4runner. I'd just like some input on which to do.

1. Repaint stock wheels bronze/ save up for SCS wheels.

2. 1" RB body lift

3. Billstein shocks & toytec/eibach springs for the front

I can't decide which to set my sights on first due to limited funding, let me know what y'all think

Out of your three options I'd go for the springs and struts first. Also, a Roger Brown BL is really cheap so I'm sure you could do all that at once. What do you have on there now?

toytec spacers in the front OME set up in the rear, and spidertrax. I'd really like to have her sit as level as possible and hopefully take care of the minimal rubbing. In the parking lot I have to work in i could only beat in the pinch welds so far haha I took her off the road for the first time since spidertrax this week and the tires still hit only minimally though

I would go for number 3 on this one out of your choices.

Oh, and Off topic, but did you paint your rims gunmetal? What did you use? My 02 sports (black) is in need of a rim paint job as the old one is starting to peel off. Do you have a better picture of it overall and perhaps a picture to show the rims and body?

I just went outside and snapped a few for you in the parking lot. Like I said I took it offroad earlier this week still haven't found the time to clean her up. I tried to lick the finger to show you the real color of the gunmetal paint on the wheels. I used rustoleum gunmetal grey. They look really nice cleaned up. I took the em off the runner sanded them down used I think two coats of primer, three of the paint and three or four of the clear coat. I don't know if this was over or under kill but they held up pretty well. I'm thinking of going to the matte bronze color though. I really like the look of the SCS wheels and as you might can tell I'm in college so I don't really have the funds to do what I like when I like to my "Mode of transportation from point A to point B"

As much as Vin at SCS will probably be mad at me for saying this, don't go with wheels first. Unless you know you can break about even selling your current ones. Wheels can help in certain aspects, but if you don't need the BS for tire clearancing then they are just a bling piece. Paint yours for the time being if you need a change. Costs about $15 and some time.


I agree a lift will benefit you most and a body lift is cheap. It will definitely ride better and the best choice of all of them.

The rake is killing me, with 210K the front with the spacers is really starting to sag. and give me a break haha I was 16 when I found the time and money to do what I did and paying for college and doing what I want to my baby is not easy hahaha!!

No, I was saying both if you want since a BL is only about $100. Although a BL might make you want bigger tires, which is a slippery slope. Go for the billies/eibachs, they are the best option based on needs/wants.

Trust me I know. I gave up a supercharged ext cab Tacoma because it wasn't financially wise in college. Ended up getting a Corolla and drove that for the next 4 years. Hated every minute of it except when I filled up at the gas station. Even now I'm pinching pennies to afford any mods. Good job though on being financially independent, it will benefit you later in life.

Will the billies and springs in the front give me a solid 3? with the top plate spacer I'm expecting...right?
and with as much trouble as I've had with trimming and pounding out the pinch weld in that beautiful parking lot you see up there^ I have no desire making any accommodations for more rubber. I really hope that doesn't change with the BL. cause that's been something I've wanted ever since I could remember. "Want" being the key word, everything I've done other than the front tube bumper I snagged off a buddy has been a NEED haha.

I wouldn't have even wanted a 4runner if it wasn't for my brother who's now in the "real world." He drove a baby blue 85 LC ever since I can remember, at 38 he still has it. OME suspension, body lift, snorkel, bed lined interior, and all the other things one could ask for land surveying in the southern part of the US. He bought it off a rock quarry before I was brought into this world. Still has it, runs like a champ, original engine, the SOB still won't trade or sell me the thing. I think I ask him about 50 times a year. Despite his two beautiful lil sh!ts, he still can't let the thing go.

The paint job. I've seen few that turn out well, unless your having a paint shop do it.
But of course it's up to you. But I'd still do it in that order.
