Opinions on Tires

I've got the SR5 with the 265/70/17 tires. It has the crappy stock bridgestone tires on it, and I want to replace those.

I don't have 4WD and don't go off road really at all. So, I'm looking for the best tires on the road, and think I have it narrowed down to 3 options.

Bridgestone Alenza - I used these on my previous 4Runner for years with great success. They do wear out quickly, but they're very comfortable and drive quite nicely. I'd have no reservation about going with these again, but wanted input on a couple other models first if I can get it.

I'm also looking at the Michelin Latitude Tour and the Michelin LTX M/S 2.

They both rate very well on TireRack, with the LTX M/S 2 appearing to rate the highest among all tires in the category that I'm looking at.

Any thoughts?

I had Michelin LTX M/S on my last Tacoma and loved them. They were great in all weather and drove very nicely on the road.

As a result I had the dealer put Michelin LTX M/S 2 on my new 4Runner before I even picked it up. So far they seem just as nice. I haven't had them in the snow yet, but I don't expect to have any problems.

For a non 4 x 4 and never to see off road, the stock tires are not that bad. Just make sure if you want to do the takeoff route they don't hose you or negotiate it as part of the deal!!

It is hard to beat the Michelins I must say though, clearly great tires

We had the Michelin M/S on our '95 4Runner. They lasted 95,000 miles. Can't ask for better than that.

I've had several sets of the LTX M/S and they're awesome tires. Great handling, grip and run forever. Can't go wrong there.
