Opt off-road cam tab delete review

Wanted to drop a quick post regarding the opt off-road cam tab delete kit for those that don’t frequent my build page.

I recently went through a couple of projects, two of which included installing the total chaos cam tab gussets and figured I would try the cam tab delete kit from opt off-road while I was at it to really lock in my alignment.

I’m running the JBA high caster uppers and have the front arm plates set all the way in board, and the rears all the way outboard. This gives me maximum clearance from the 35s to the frame as well as maximizes the caster. My alignment specs are below.

I was pleased to find that I was at 4.3-4.9 degrees of caster with this setup and decent camber without ever having to worry about my alignment walking on me on a trail. The camber is a bit funky but 0 degrees total, possibly having something to do with a pretty hard drivers side lean at the moment.

The cam tab delete has 3 positions you can instal (-, 0, +) so you could play around with it a bit, but this current setup works for me. I was skeptical about what the numbers would be but am happy to report that at least they aren’t totally screwed up and for the money I would definitely recommend.

These cam tab delete kits are good but you still need to weld in cam tab gussets to get the most benefit from it. Instead of spinning a stock cam when hitting a rock you'll just flatten the tab. Ask me how I know.

The other option, and probably the cheapest and strongest option is to weld these plates or homemade plates directly to the frame. Could get the alignment dialed in and then weld later, or weld the plates in a neutral position and adjust alignment with aftermarket upper heims joints.

Oh yea I definitely wouldn’t rely solely on these delete plates without the cam tab gussets to go along, and vice versa.

The amount of work to get the gussets in was surprisingly light compared to all the other things I’ve done. As long as you have a good drill bit you can get through the spot welds super easy then they just pop off.. I was expecting to struggle significantly more.

Huh... interesting. How much positive and negative measurements do you have with those delete kits?

I didn't really have much issue with the cam tabs after installing the Tota Chaos Tab Kit; even after hitting a log and bending my spindle the lower cams were fine and didn't really move if I remember right. It's a great product and one I highly recommend for anyone who is running heavier suspension/tires and offroad moderately. I just wish Toyota would do them stock for their trucks/SUVs given how often the damn backside tabs get flattened by people.

I just touched up my alignment this past weekend, I'm at about -0.05° Camber and about 5.8° Caster with the Camburg UCA I'm running.

I’m not sure exactly on the total adjustment is with these to be honest .. just know they have + , 0 , - position.

I’m already on reinforced/gusseted spindles so my fear with the cam tabs Reinforced as well was that the cam would turn next.

And I agree on those needing to be more beefy stock..
