OptiCoat or similar Vehicle Protection Film for mild off-roading?

Hi,

I finally bought myself a 4x4 for desert exploration. With a new car I'm a little bit worried about pinstriping from bushes in the desert. I know this worry will go away when the car isn't brand spanking new anymore, but still...

Would you say protective films such as OptiCoat or the sturdier urethane films provide any protection at all against twigs and bushes? Could it be worth the, quite significant, investment to get at least a little piece of mind?
