Optima Battery Installation Woes

Just got a 35-series Red Top from Costco. Came home to find it's narrower and shorter than stock battery! That and the negative (black) ground wire, the one that bolts to body, is too short! Any help on how to mod the bracket/long-hooked-bolts and the negative ground battery wire would be appreciated! Thanks guys!

I did read that someone used the top bracket and put it underneath for some clearance... I'll see if that helps. Great battery so far. I hooked it up, turned the key and it didn't start. Second turn of the key within 20 sec. and she started right up. Left her running for about 20 mins after to charge up a little while I rigged some shims to hold the Optima down. Hopefully it won't shift around too much when I goto Hollister on Sunday for a little off roading!

I actually only have a pre-amp'ed Bazooka 10" sub... I was merely commenting on how the battery was at least charged enough that the second turn of the key started the vehicle! :bigok:

Oh....I meant that the D31 yellow top will fit your battery tray better, your terminals will reach, and you will have better cold cranking amps as well as reserve capacity.

This is interesting to know. I am looking at getting a red or yellow or maybe another brand. I'm glad to know that they will both fit, even though the yellow is a better fit.

Oh....I meant that the D31 yellow top will fit your battery tray better, your terminals will reach, and you will have better cold cranking amps as well as reserve capacity.

I thought the red top was the "cold cranker"?
