optima yellow tops in a 3rd gen

so with the amount of strain i put on my battery, its dead. again. it needs to be replaced, and ive wanted to get a yellow top for that extra little umph that it packs.

two main questions. do i need anything specific to mount this battery, or will it fit in the stock tray and with the stock mounting brackets. secondly, who sells the d35 cheapest that you know of. ive seen them at costco but not sure if its a d35, and i know i can get it at autozone.

Got mine at advanced the day I bought it. Pos wires will be tight and require one of the mounting clips to b removed. I also got the gold plated bat terminals with quick release wing nuts just cuz I have a p420 cel that comes on a lot.

I will swear by the yellow tops though. I throw one in every car I own. I can get a life time replacement on them too,get to know ur parts store guys/girls. Just for props, my buddy ran one over with his Golf and smashed it all to hell, took it back and told them that it exploded!

The yellow top has gotten me out of the woods with a dead alternator twice now. SOB runs for hours off of the bat alone. No need to modify bracket. Get one!

I think Yellow Tops are great batteries BUT, I can always flash back to the early to mid 90s when car audio was the "Thing" to do and have.

STINGER (wire company) released the ONLY gel-cell battery for car audio and it worked well. Not only was it for BEAT but it was for starting the cars.

I have been debating for a long time about it and finally broke down and got one. Yeah Yeah they are pricey but IMHO i think they are better than the Optimas.

Just my opinion.

Speaking of battery terminals, how do you change the positive terminal side? You can cut it it is hard as heck (3rd gen).
I would like about 4 to 0 gauge on the terminals.

Please help!

From everything I've heard the Diehard Platinum is the battery of choice since its a rebadged Odyssey. If I'm gona spend $130-$150 on a battery then I'm getn the Plantinum

Just use a ring terminal, that's what I did with my amp's 4gu.
Also, I have a hard time buying an optima battery, ever since they moved to Mexico I've heard nothing but horror stories.

so i settled on a duralast gold. under $100, and still way more cranking amps than the previous battery. lets hope this one will last :biggrin2:

plus the warranty is pretty good on this one. 3 years free replacement and 8 years pro rated
