That looks like an excellent trip! Where is this? Nice shots. I smell a T4ROTM!
Any specs on this beast? What is it?
Yes it was an excellent trip. It really took my mind off things for a weekend!
The "willys" is a home made affair. Not sure where the frame is from, but the body is obvious. Tires are massive, but I don't know exactly how big - approx 42" I would guess. v8 with automatic. 2 temp guages on the tranny (and he claims "no bling"). Very skilled driver.
We are just over an hour outside Winnipeg. These trails start off an old gravel pit. It is crown land so OR is fine. We were very careful, and packed everything out.
There is a high risk of body damage on this terrain. For sure you get lots of scratches, good thing gray doesn't show them too much. I removed the running boards (easy task) prior. Many trucks went home early with carnage. Snapped diffs, stick thru rad, busted hubs, and on and on.
My biggest issues were departure angles, and breakover. Front wasn't too bad, but I didn't even think about trying to 'mount' some of the obstacles.
I need improved underbody armour, and some sliders too. The rear tire served up as a skid quite a bit. Also, I used my towring to worsen departure but hopefully take a scraping instead of the plastic. all I know is that it definately took a good scraping!
