Orange plug above front speaker unplugged

Sorry about the noob question :whipping2 , but I couldn't find an answer by searching the forums. I just bought my 2001 4Runner, and I was looking for the cause of the rattling noise coming from my door panels. I found out that the orange plugs above my front speakers had been unplugged. I am wondering what these plugs' function is. Do they go to the tweeters?

They bring the sound signal to the speaker in the door. If I remember when I put new speakers in mine. Those wires come thru the door and then go up to tweeter and then down to the woofer. You can see them from your pic that the same 2 wires are in the foreground of the pic going up then a set of them coming down to that plug

is there any reason the previous owner would unplug these? they had an aftermarket amp that i removed... i dunno if that would have anything to do with it

Looks like someone put aftermarket speakers in it. Probably they ran there own wires to the speaker and left it unplugged since the factory ones have solder on the connections.

Just pull the door panel off and see if they did indeed run their own wires to the aftermarket speaker. You can probably just cut the plug off or just plug it back in. But do take the door panel off. Much easier when its out of the way.
