I'm a new member and I have been lurking around for a while now. I see so many great ideas that everyone posts, but it brings one questions to mind. Being that money is an issue, as it seems for most here, what order should mods be done in? I have an '07 SE V6 that I would like to add intake/exhaust and leveling kit/wheels/tires and etc. I'm guessing most replies will tell me its my opinion, but I was thinking a little expert advice never hurt...:headslap:

Lolz sorry to say it is up to you. What is most important to you? What will you be doing? DD or weekend toy? Towing or off roading?

You can do several things either very cheaply or free like de-badging, or adding power outlets, constant on, breather mod, etc.

On both of my 4R's Ive only put in all synthetic fluids, HID kit, paint calipers, and debadge.

:iagree: Make the foundation solid... I am a firm believer in good fluids, diff breather mod etc. De-badging looks great, and there's other fun, cheap stuff.

Next up I'd consider an aux trans cooler depending on your intended use. After that a levelling kit. Once there catch your financial breath and pick the next mod.

These threads are good:

Make the foundation solid...

I like the way you think. This is the direction I would like to go; if the foundation isn't solid, then there is no need to keep building on it. My 4R is a DD, but I want to use it to tow, hit some mild trails, climb the mountain to play in the snow, etc. I will start to scour the threads for recommendations on the diff breather, aux tranny cooler, and fluids. If anyone else cares to chime in, feel free; the more the better!

Since its your DD I would say do things that will make driving better/easier so you can experience the tangible benefit of your labors everyday. Such as tint, lighting upgrade, tires, fluids, radio if thats your thing, maybe some floor mats. I have some nice Weather Techs coming in tomorrow. Theres a ton of info on here, Im on my 2nd 4th Gen SE 4x4 and Im still digging around!

As far as fluids go, is this something that the dealership can do? They do all of my fluid changes regularly. I've seen synthetic being the fluid of choice, but what should I have replaced that is in there now?

Yes the dealer can do that, If youre going to tow and go off road often than Id change out the front, center, and rear differentials with synthetic 75W-90 GL5. The dealer will likely charge you an arm and leg for this, but you can DIY for less than half the cost. It cost me $90 and an hour of my time to do mine with Amsoil. If you will be doing a lot of winter sports the low pour point of the synthetic gear lubes gives me a warm fuzzy. On the V6 I noticed quicker 4HI engagement and on my V8 I have now 4LO comes online instantly after the change to syn. Plus after seeing the fluid that was in there for 30K Im glad I changed it out. Im pretty anal so for me 25-30K is a good time to change out the factory fill in the diffs. Also dont forget about the zerk fittings to grease.

Its a good thing that I'm getting all of this info now! I'm just about to hit 30k, so I guess that means the ol' girl is gonna get something new to drink!
