Ordering tomorrow, need one last question

So tomorrow i order a 2006 4runner sport edition v6
From the guys who have one, if you could change one thing
what would it be?

I would advise AGAINST getting a sunroof in the 4th Gen 4Runners. The roofs are too low to begin with, so when you have a sunroof, it takes an extra inch of headroom.

Sit it a 4R both with and without a sunroof and make your own decision.

As for the tires, I definately agree. The dunlops are dunflops. I had the dealer change mine for REVOS at an additional cost, but they are way worth it.

Also, the double decker cargo system, although it looks kinda neat, is a waste of time and money.
 
No double decker cargo dert. , stupid idea IMO and waster of money.

Unless headroom is a factor , deff. get the sunroof !!!

Tire's you can put on cheaper

Get the best tune system you can

I prefer *Done*flops. These tires are USELESS, unless all you drive on is straight, dry roads.
 
I would have to agree...

Replace the Dunflops - this is not an orderable option, but should be agreed before you take delivery of the vehicle.

Sunroof is nice unless you need the headroom, but don't add one aftermarket.

Side Curtain Air Bags and Roll Sensing Air Curtains are excellent to add as well as this increases the safety factor and resale factor.

The 115v power outlet is also nice to have for those little extras that require AC power.

How easy is this? I will (hopefully) be taking delivery in about a month. I have not looked at what the 18" Limited 4Runners come equipped with in my area, but if it is a sub-standard tire, how do you go about getting the dealer to trade you out?

And does anyone know what they are putting on the 18" Limiteds?

I'm pretty sure they are Bridgestone Dueler H/T's which aren't much better than the 'flops. Don't quote me on that though...

Wait, aren't Bridgestone Dueler H/T's & Revos the same thing?
 
My 2006 SR5 came with Michelins Cross Terain 265/65/17's. Nice tires. :D

But notice I don't see any mention of the Michelins here on the board.

I have the Bridgestone Dueler H/T's on my V6 Limited. They pretty much suck, had them on both my Tundras so I know this for a fact. I have seen some V8 limiteds with Michelin Cross Terrains but also some with the B'stones, I think the Michelins may come as original equipment on the V8 Limited with the curtain air bag package because the V8s I saw without the curtain air bag pack had the B'stones. Also I have not seen any V6 limiteds with the Michelins Cross Terrains, which are a much better tire IMO. I put them on my first Tundra and loved them. The Michelin LTX is a good tire too. I recommend either if you don't plan to do any off roading. Get the Revos if you do.

What effect would the tires have on side curtain air bags? Why would they put one tire on a truck with air bags & another tire on one not equipped with air bags?

Or are you just saying what you have seen?

I am just saying that is what I've seen, and I probably looked at a couple dozen 4Runners before buying one. What I have noticed with some car makers is they consider the Michelins a premium product. My wife has a 2005 Acura TL with Navigation. Acura puts Michelins on all TL's with Navigation but Bridgestone's on the ones without. So if you spend $2000 for the Nav Acura throws in a better tire. Maybe Toyota does the same with the curtain air bag package, although I did notice that someone posted their SR5 had the Michelins and I don't think they had the air bag package.
 
DON'T GET THE SUNROOF! I know it hard to live with out one, but I've learned the hard way with my 05 Sport. Wind noise, rattling, malfunction, etc. Test drive both before you put a nail on it.
