Original key triggers the car alarm?

Hey guys, when I first purchased the 4Runner back in Feb '08, they gave us two sets of keys with keyless remotes where we could unlock the doors. However, when we first got it, we used the original key with the tags attached to it that included brief info about the truck and it didn't trigger the alarm until the next day. I wasn't sure why it would trigger the alarm if you use the key and not the remote.. but the extra key works too, neither of the key and the alarm triggers the car alarm but the original ones does.

Basically I'm asking why does the original key trigger the alarm once turned inside the door's key handle while the extra does not trigger the alarm. Thanks guys and I'll post pics of my HID's, LED's (exterior) and the tail lights as well this Friday (hopefully )

did they by chance install a new after market alarm system that is only activated by one set of keys?

The orginial Valet key will trigger the alarm..Mine does that.

the Valet key is a little smaller than the Master key.

What color is the head of the key? Black or dark grey?

Actually to come think of it, I just realized that both keys with no head are actually extra set of keys for the 4Runner. They BOTH trigger the alarm while the original key with the black head does NOT. However, I would carry my original key except the head is a little bit cracked (The plastic broke near the part where you could attach the key to a keychain. Sorry! I was just a little bit tired last night where I posted the thread

Mine does the same thing, i just have two copies and that is it. And it is the stock alarm system. If I use both the alarm will go off and I have to start the car to get it to stop. Or stop it with my remote, so If i ever lose my remote i'm screwed. Anyone have a solution to this?????
