Other Tires on 4Runner?

Hey all, brand new to the forum, hoping to get some good help... so far I've read a lot of good stuff.

My wife has a 2000 4Runner, and the tires are going BALD. Problem is we can't afford to get a brand new set, but there are a lot of decent sets on Craigslist... thing is that they are for a Tacoma, Tundra, etc.

Is there any certain type of Toyota truck tire that will or won't fit? I was looking at something like this:

I ASSUME(may be very wrong) that as long as they are 6 lug, and for a Toyota then they SHOULD fit? Those particular ones in the link above are 245/75R16...

any insight? I'd really like to get some new rubber on this thing before it falls apart... thanks in advance!!!!

The only thing that will really matter to you is the tire size itself. I think you'll basically want to limit your search to 265/70R16 or 265/75R16.

Buying used tires is a bit of a gamble though, make sure the tread wear at least looks even and there aren't any plugs, the bead is clean, and the tire is round (as best you can tell).

So as long as it's a Toyota 6 lug, my only concern should be the physical size?

I think right now they are in the neighborhood of 275/70r15 or something like that.... I wish I remembered off the top of my head.

Are you looking for wheels and tires? If you're just looking for tires the lug pattern won't matter, it's the size of the tire that matters. 245/75/16 will fit, 265/70/16, 265/75/16.

The reason I ask about the lug pattern is because most of the tires when I type "toyota tires" comes with wheels. So I'm willing to just buy the wheel as well for the prices around here.

If you can't afford to buy new tires, then don't waste your money on another set of used wheels. Unless the deal is good enough, the cost to mount and balance new tires is less than the cost of a wheel.
Also, don't search for 'toyota tires' or '4runner tires', there is no such thing. All tires can go on all vehicles as long as you get the correct size, which, as the others have already said, is 265/70R16.

I know how to search on Craigslist.... The thing is, people are stupid and they advertise their tires as "Tacoma Tires" or "Toyota Truck Tires".... I'm exploring ALL options of tire. Plus if I search with the manufacturer name in there, I'm more likely to find a complete set, which for the right price, I'm fine with. I'm averaging about $200 for a wheel/tire set that I'm finding... so I promise I know what I'm looking for when it comes to a good deal.

Also, as I said before, there are people selling four GOOD condition tires ALREADY mounted and balanced on the wheel... I'm not looking to buy a set of wheels and a set of tires.... I'd be buying them already on the wheel, hence me looking for good sizing for lug pattern.

Ok. Your opening post sounded like you had absolutely no idea about wheels and tires.
The thing you should be careful of with toyota 6 lug rims is the backspacing or offset. Sometimes there are differences between models.

Yeah, I was worried about the offset. I wasn't sure if there was a significant difference between models. Granted, the wheel/tire set on there now is a little shoddy as is.... but was still hoping for some uniformity between models.
