Our Sad Day.....and I need your advice.....

Well, been a while since I perused these boards, nice to see things going along well.

Sadly, last week my wife hit a patch of ice and totaled our 2007 Sport. She walked away a bit shaken, but no injuries.

Feels like a loss in the family. Great truck, awesome memories of off roading in Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming on our cross country treks.

Feels like a loss of a family member and I am bummed. I have a 2010 Tacoma, and I used to drive that 4Runner, and every once in a while I got to drive it again and still love that truck..........

So now....she messes with my mind in the way only a wife can. While shopping for another car I found a left over 2013 4Runner Trail with KDSS and entune sitting on the lot. Brandidy spankin' new.......She said I could get it if I want. God gave me a great woman.....

So should I pounce on it? Do you guys think it is worth it? I rarely use the pick up bed, and she is getting a family truckster to scoot around in.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have. That is why I have been jonesing for the past 2 days. Someone was doing acid while smoking laced pot and intoxicated designing that friggin thing.

I wouldn't trade in a truck I was happy with, especially if it was only four years old. It sounds like you're considering this out of sentiment, and that's rarely a good state of mind to be making big decisions with.

If that 2013 is still there now, it'll still be there next month once you've chewed on the idea for a while.

Good advice from Kidvermicious. The front grille was why I bought the new 2013. Just lucky there was one left on the lot.

I am tolerant of the truck. Suits our purposes, but quite tight with two kids in car seats and trying to any shipping - the bed isn't as handy as one might think.

We are just thinking that the 4Runner is a better suit for us, but don't want to entirely jump in over it without thinking, and you guys are quite a bit more knowledgeable about the 4Runner than I am. So, I figured that it was worth asking some opinions.

Yes. That was at 25 mph into a tree. Absolutely intrusion into passenger cabin.

With regards to the 13, with kiddos I would rather have the Runner unless you need a truck bed. Just my .02 on that subject.

Glad that your wife is ok. I don't like 2014 TE grille too, here's a great review of 2011 TE.

First off, glad she was okay and I am sorry to hear about your 4Runner.

After recently purchasing a '14, the front end does really grow on you... a lot. It's come to the point where I am glad I have that and not the '13 front end. Go look at it in person for awhile and not through photos. It's not that photogenic.

Going to do the dance with the dealer tomorrow, may not even like the truck.

No incentives on a 2013 though, so I have to see if they'll go below invoice on it with just haggling. Figure if I can get it at invoice it still won't be that bad, but hopefully they will wiggle. Invoice on the truck is $37,685.

Glad she was ok. If the 4Runner fits your needs over the truck then I would go for the 4Runner. I'm still on the fence with the changes on the '14. Surely with a '13 still on the lot they are wanting to move it and should work with you.

I don't know...the 14s are starting to grow on me.

each their own. but do yourself a favor and actually see a 14 in person in sunlight.

until I actually saw one in person the LE front end isn't that bad, but each person is different on how they like the front end on the SR5/TE and the LE.

after I saw red LE, I almost kicked myself for not getting it, but then I came to my senses and realized, I love my silver.

I wouldn't trade my 14 for a 13 unless the 13's had the same features, then the 13's front end are better. but I had very specific requirements.

heated/cooled seats, memory seats, no sliding cargo tray, no 3rd row. you cant get those in the 13's.
