Tried to get the 2013, drove nicely, but the stealer wouldn't bend at all. Wanted to charge me $1,200 over invoice on a left over 2013 that had been on the lot for 130 days. So I felt a bit dejected.

All is not lost though. Went to a stealer yesterday, got an offer on a black 2014 demo Trail Premium with KDSS, remote starter, all weather floor mats, and the cargo cover (they charge for this thing now?) that had 7,200 miles on it.

MSRP of $42,189, and we bought it for $35,500 and got $21,000 for Tacoma trade in. Out the door for $14,500.

I think we got a good deal. Took forever to get a good price on the trade.

That 2014 grille is growing on me, but it will take a while....

Glad things worked out for you all the way around! That dealer is definitely smoking something, as a '13 still sitting there is not worth over "invoice" at this point. I got my '13 Limited in the middle of December for $37,900 USD + TTL (before trade-in). It wasn't even on their lot and they located it from a dealer about 200 miles away. I can't imagine a dealer not wanting to unload old models now, but it sounds like they will be holding on to that one for a while.

Our local dealer is like this or worse than this. When I bought my 04 they had one for almost 5k more. They won't sell a used car near kbb/nada. And they charge about 20% over list for parts. Criminals..

Oh my lord! That is a gorgeous ride! The black looks great, and that grill is not bad. I might have to find a way to get one of those! However, I don't want the payment! Mine is free and clear, and cheap to register! Great looking truck! Glad she is ok, however, what is she going to drive!

Hey that unusual '14 front grill is a lot easier to swallow in solid black, doesn't look too bad! When you pick it up you should swing by to visit the first salesmen so he can learn what an idiot he was for jonesing you on the 2013..... ::

I agree. Those dealers that refuse to work with buyers in this day and age get the leftovers....People who are more impulsive and not saving as much in their purchases. They make it easier to leave and go to another dealer who will work with you.

Just bought the Black '14 T4R, as you can see, and from the same dealer that I bought my Taco from. The only haggling we had to do was the rogering we were going to take on the trade in - which you are going to get from any dealer unfortunately.

Unless you are in East Bumscratch, finding another dealer that will work with you is not difficult.

Yeah. The black mutes the curves of the grille very nicely. Not much of a black fan, but black on black is quite nice, and red accent stitching makes it "pop" nicely inside so it is not too dark.

I HATE having a payment as well, but we are incredibly blessed and the truck will be paid off this year, and the deal was too good to pass up on a '14 demo. And when the wifey says "you can get it if you want it" and actually means it, you have to strike before she has time to change her mind and crush your hopes and dreams. ound:

I was kind of bummed though, this is our third T4R, and the others were both red, and it would have been nice to continue the trend, and that original dealer had a '13 left over Salsa Red one - just like our '07 that crashed.

The wife insulted my masculinity and got a '12 Sienna Limited that was a lease return with just over 16,000 miles on it. She has wanted a minivan since before we had kids......Happy wife, happy life. It is Blizzard Pearl (wish it came on a Trail Edition) and I call it the space shuttle since it is white, huge, and has enough computers (to inevitably break) to launch a rocket. I like driving it, but it is hard to look cool or feel masculine in a minivan.

I had the same thought about visiting the dealer and saying that his inflexibility on the price cost him the sale. I was willing to sign a P&S that day, but he did not want to bend.

And that '13 is still on the lot as of about 5 minutes ago.

His loss, your gain! I understand about the happy wife! If she got what she wanted, then get what you want, as long as she says it's ok! I've been married for 16 years, so I understand! My wife usually gets what she wants!
