Outfittings '96 for My Application

Hey just got an '96 SR5, and I'm a noobie to this forum. I've been searching old forum and getting a ton on information, (aweseom!) and at this time I'd like to pose question to the rest of y'all. (Had to use y'all, I'm from the Carolinas.)

I'm planning on outfitting our stock '96 with some offroad equipment. Here's the application: Long distance off-roading on trail across the country from coast to coast or north to south. Contingent on trails we choose, these might not be the hardest trails around, so I don't need an all-out rock crawler.

I've reviewed the trans-america (which is mostly motorcycle stuff) but I understand that around 80 percent can be done in a 4wd, if not a nice 2wd. Consisting of mostly farm roads, jeep roads, and some pavement here and there. We're also considering the trails from north to south along the Continental Divide.

Has anyone done any long distance trail such as these? What kinds of equipment would be required?

I can keep typing more and more questions, but this is probably a good start. Thanks!!

Good call.
I see you've got a lot done to your '97. Would you change anything about how you've spec'd your rig?
