Overheating....

So I wrecked my runner a couple weeks ago and just put in a new radiator, but I'm still overheating?
After the wreck the lower radiator hose was exposed to suck up air, and I drove it a block to store it.
What are possible causes for my overheating? Anything helps.

Ps, picked up a new thermostat but have not installed it yet, hesitant due to the fact that the truck clearly reached running temperature and lowered rpms. Can it do that if I have a bad thermostat?

4wd limited no trans cooler. So I have my lines goin into my radiator

Is it actually boiling over or are you just seeing the gauge read high?

After you say it had 'sucked up air' did you 'burp' the cooling system? Just an idea... but that may be what your problem is because there may still be air pockets in your system. Park the truck with the nose raised up on a hill or something and when it has cooled off open up the radiator cap. Next then run the engine to circulate the coolant and the air should bubble out.

It was actually boiling over.

And I sorta burped it. Got rid of another gallon of air from my system xD

All that air would definitely cause issues. I'd change the thermostat. You have a new rad and I would assume new hoses..? Might as well do the thermo. That way you can check to see if the impact caused any crud to break loose and clog that area up.

Changing out the thermostat would at least rule out the possibility that it is what is messing up... I've never researched how to do it on a T4R so I wouldn't know how hard it would be. But either way if it were me I would run some cleaner through the system for peace of mind that whatever might be in there is out.

Sounds like air is still in your system.

But it could also be:

You might need to replace your radiator cap (OEM!), if it was damaged in the incident it might not be sealing properly and maintaining the correct pressure.

Depending on how hard you got hit the water pump might be taking a dump. After its cooled you can check your pump by removing the cap and seeing if reving your motor will pump radiator fluid out... should be alright if thats the outcome.

More details on what happened would help, but those are the ideas off the top of my head.

Solved the issue, I had a TON of air in my system and it worked its way out, didn't need to replace the thermostat. Just kept taking it around the block and then putting more antifreeze into it once more air was worked to the radiator from my engine.
Thanks for the suggestions guys now to purchase some skid plates since my stock ones are destroyed xD
